They do have freedom of speech on there side. However so do we.

Yeah they have freedom of speech. But how do you think a 10 year old daughter at her recently deceased father's funeral, a man who had died in Afghanistan, is being insulted and told that he is going to Hell, feels about this? It is an outrage. These people have no class.

I don't have any respect for people who picket at Military or any one else's funeral. It's not up to them to play God, so to speak, by judging people... It's cruel to the mourners at the funeral as well as disrespectful to those who gave their lives to keep our country free.

Can we execute these assholes? Free speech is one thing, to disrespect someone who gave their life for you is entirely another. These &quoteople" are the reason that half the world hates Americans.

I agree with this statement, but execution? that's a little extreme.

It was just an exaggeration...

They call themselves Christians but they go completely against the central text of their religion.

Exactly. They're trying to play God and that's not anything that should be taught by so-called Christians.

And this really shows how vague the amendments are, which is another topic going on right now.

When does free speech end and just hatefulness begin?

Is there an actual point (as far as the law is concerned) where it ends? The amendment is pretty vague - 'Freedom of Speech' sounds like you can say exactly what you want, when you want and to who you want.

From what I know they don't actually go to the grave, so their isn't any trespassing. I hate to say it, but I think they're within their rights here.

Well, let's see. Here is the language verbatim:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It mentions peaceably to assemble. So, I would say they have the right to be there and I'm not aware of any federal law that could counter them attending funerals in such a manner. In reality, we are just arguing that it is disrespectful and it is terrible that the law can't do anything about it.

WHY ARE THE BILL OF RIGHTS SO VAGUE!?!

As I stated in another thread - I advocate a rewrite. Keep the basic 'good' parts but change parts that aren't relevant or are too vague.

I'm sorry this is really off topic, but it would be very cool, in a nerdy way, if the Regs of WEPR created our own government from the ground up.

Sounds like fun. Someone should make a thread for it - we could start out with the basic premise of a parliamentary system and then work on it or change it - deciding who should be the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary arms of government. If the Head of State should be the Head of Government too. It would be fun to see what the end result turned out like. We could make our own Constitution too.
