Okay,so I was reading Time Magazine this morning and found this article about some religious group protesting with signs like,"Go to Hell!"and,"Thank God For Dead Soldiers",as well as others. Then they say they are anti-Semitic,anti Christian, and anti-American.At that point,I was seriously offended. What do you think about it?

I've always wanted to go stand next to them with a sign that says "God hates the WBC".

I wonder how they would take that...

The one against them? Or the numerous ones they keep trying to throw at anybody who disagrees with them?

You would have the right to do so.

I wouldn't hope that. If they could "forget" about their rights then they could do it to anyone.

there are rights and freedoms, but the stuff they say/do is blatantly offensive. Don't think that the justice system is going to help them on this one (at least I hope not).

That's like that religious group that went to Dio's funeral and told his family that he and all of them were going to hell because of his music and "devil horns". I think these radicals take it way too far, especially if the man is already dead. Please, they're dead, give them dignity. It certainly isn't loving, like they want their image to be.

I've heard what they do called emotional terrorism. I like that, that is beyond freedom of speech.

How so, just because it's offensive to most people? I don't see that as a valid argument.
I'm sure thy would feel just as offended if I stood there with a sign that said "Go home, God doesn't exist". But it doesn't mean I shouldn't have the right to do it.

Unfortunately what they are doing is perfectly legal. It is not terrorism, it is not violent, and it is not illegal. While I heartily disagree with them and am deeply offended by the way in which they express themselves I have to defend their right to so.

Encyclopedia Brittanica explains terrorism as: [the] "Systematic use of violence to create a general climate of fear in a population and thereby to bring about a particular political objective."

What people like those from Westborough Baptist Church are doing at these military ceremonies is not violent, it is not illegal, and I can guarantee you that no one there is afraid of them. Offended of course, but certainly not afraid. If we accept Brittanica's explanation of terrorism we can clearly see that what is being done is not terrorism in any form and as such they are well within their rights, rights those soldiers being buried died defending. I just wish WBC and others like them remembered that.

thats why there should be a limit to freedom of speech that could be considered verbal terrorism and it's also considered treason cause they had signs that said god hates america

they'll find a reason to sue for that and if you hate America then why should you still gain it's constitutional rights?
