wow can you believe this one event starts a huge reaction amoung alot. News, Ellen, Opra, and many others my only problem is why didnt they see this sooner with bullying well give your opinions.
Ok lets for an moment think of an possibility that the bully also know some martial arts and when you start a fight you get beat very badly or both of you get suspended or expelled. It could also result in criminal charges on either of you.
Another possibility is that you beat them up. But now they hate you even more and have reason to inflict bodily harm to you. So they get their friends together with some knives and really hurt you or your friends.
Also if none of my suggestions work you should talk with an adult with they inflict bodily harm to you because then they get desensitized to hurting people and will only get worse from that point. They school will also get involved if they try and hurt you outside of it and eventually get the police involved. Because doing nothing and make it worse are not good solutions.
I suggest that if you are unable to defend yourself that you hire someone who will defend you. Or you organize an entire group of people who are bullied and take those bullies out. Typically there are far fewer bullies than there are victims of bullying.
Walker what you are suggesting is a bit too much Mafia-style. They are kids, things can get out of hand pretty easily. If the "victims" form some sort of gang they can do some serious damage to the "erpetrators".
In my opinion its just better trying to solve things by yourself talk to the bullies, rough them up a bit, (alone and unarmed) or just threaten them to go to the principal.

Yeah that never worked for me. I was picked on mercilessly all through school, up until 7th grade. I was the nerdy kid that didn't have any social skills so I was a great target for bullies. I was also in martial arts from the time I was 8, however I was taught not to react with violence. This made me a perfect target it seems because I never fought back.
Finally by 7th grade I'd had enough. One of the longest standing bullies I'd had approached me in the cafeteria on the second day of 7th grade and started trying to 'unk' me in front of everyone, yet again. I reacted. I broke his arm and stuffed him in a trash can. That was the last time I was bullied.
However, prior to this time, I had tried every non-violent recourse available to me and nothing ever made it better. Furthermore, every time one of these 'bullies' got in trouble for their actions it was just worse.
I am not, and do not, condone violence as a solution, however there are cases where a non-violent option is not effective. By banding together, even without expressing overt violence, the oppressed kids can show the bullies that they are no longer easy targets. No violence is necessary, simply show up together. One bully isn't going to take on 5 or 10 kids, and if he does you can restrain him without being violent, and at the same time reinforce your position of unity.
Root makes an excellent point, once the rank of first Dan is achieved in any system a martial artist, is considered a lethal weapon. To attack someone would get you charges of attempted murder.

While this is true, you are fully within your rights to defend yourself with appropriate force. It is when you initiate the conflict that you run into legality issues, especially as a minor. As an adult you also must be more careful in how much force you use in defending yourself, but courts are notoriously lenient, especially here in the US, toward minors in situations of defense.
