Here's a live feed to the results.

It would appear that the predictions were right, the Republicans are on track to win the House and are looking to make gains in the Senate although as of now there has only been a one seat change. Republicans winning the house means that John Boehner of Ohio will become the House majority speaker. Right now Republicans have gained a governor but according to the current results there is a very high chance that they will win more.

Looking at it from a political point of view the Republicans came into power at a very good time as in the next four years it's likely the economy will recover or at least get better which Republicans will be able to claim is there doing. Also this represents a shift in American politics meaning we could see the conservative ramifications of this for years.

So, what do you think?

Umm... we're still at war in case you didn't konw. But let's hope it doesn't escalate. I may be re-enlisting and I've already gone over there once. I would go again if I had to, but I'd rather stay home with my kids. Although we do have a Dem. president, and the Senate is nearly equally divided.

In Florida the second most voted candidate is an independent. personally I think its great seeing someone break the Republican-Democrat duo.
He is even first in a few counties.

I read somewhere that this year we are likely to witness the strongest showing by third party and independent candidates for office since the 1930's.
In South Carolina the Green have almost 10%!
In Arizona the Liberals have around 5%, the Constitution party has in Utah around 6% and 4% in Idaho.

I think that something is changing. The US are starting to pull themselves out of the two-party swamp.

At this point, I really couldn't care less about our politics. It disgusts me what they've come to. It's all about parties, and preventing the other party from doing helpful things. Also, many people just mindlessly vote for those in their party.

Like I said, it's not about doing what's best for the people anymore so much as it's doing what's best for a party with politicians.

In history class me and my friend were drawing up a mock government for a story we were writing; the system took up about half a page and when our history teacher picked it up he commented on how it was better than our current government. But yeah, I really don't care much for politics.

That's why I'm for eliminating the party system.

I'd be a bit embarrassed; personally I think it's crap.

If the economy does improve, maybe the republicans will be the cause. You can't really determine such a thing until you actually see the improvements.

I'm not saying they wont be, I'm saying that even if they aren't the cause the economy is likely to recover and they are likely to take credit for it.
