It would appear that the predictions were right, the Republicans are on track to win the House and are looking to make gains in the Senate although as of now there has only been a one seat change. Republicans winning the house means that John Boehner of Ohio will become the House majority speaker. Right now Republicans have gained a governor but according to the current results there is a very high chance that they will win more.
Looking at it from a political point of view the Republicans came into power at a very good time as in the next four years it's likely the economy will recover or at least get better which Republicans will be able to claim is there doing. Also this represents a shift in American politics meaning we could see the conservative ramifications of this for years.
I think that American politics is nothing but a stagnant pool of bickering idiots who have lost sight of what they're trying to do. They're more concerned with how the appear on TV than what their actual agendas are. A Republican will bash a Democrat simply because the Democrat suggests something that will benefit everyone over a single person, while a Democrat will do the reverse to the Republican (than is bash them because of their views).

I couldn't agree more, the two party system has been failing as long as I've been alive but unfortunatly I have no say in politics as of yet so I have to deal with what we have.

No, that would make too much sense. Basically if a Republican president is in office the Democrats pass nothing and if a Democratic president is in office that Republicans pass nothing. It's worthless and annoying but there's really nothing I can do about it.

Definitely, This is something that truly aggravates me.

No they get loads passed, though one group is always standing in the others way. Both parties are corrupt though I think the GOP tends to be a bit more open about it.
I've been loving watching TV on U.S. channels the past bit of time.
All the attack ads are quite funny. The sheer amount of them is amazing too.
And I thought Canada was bad, LOL.
Also, something I really never understood: why Americans elect their president and representatives separately. I mean... a Democratic president with a house (?) full of Republicans would (usually) fail.
Darn. Looks like Ellsworth of Indiana will have to wait his turn on the Senate and stay Representative.
Well at least the ads will stop--that's a plus. I'm also disappointed at some of the voters I saw while I went voting; I glanced over and saw two guys vote a straight ticket. I'm sorry, but if you are either too lazy to manually vote or are too closed-minded about who you vote for, then don't even vote.
Well when attacking "King" Harper one can never be to harsh. Mind you Ignatif is more of an American than Canadian and Jack Layton (I think he still head the NDP) will never reach office because of how slowly NDP gain ground. And god forbid the Green Party actually manages to get a seat in the commons.
But really what is American politics except a system that gets nothing done because on either end you have one extreme or the other? What America needs to do is allow more parties to develop and become elected. Look at Canada, 20 years ago no one knew who the Green Party was. Hell, no one really cared for the NDP either (though they support free post secondary). It was just Liberals (who are technically middle ground) and Conservatives (who I want to punch). But, now we have "technically" four main parties.
Thats the only thing I glad about when politics are concerned. The whole system is broken. Most people running for office only want attention/power/money, they don't care about the people they are supposed to be helping.
Not to mention the majority voters don't educate themselves on who and what they are voting for; they just hear what they want on the idiot box, vote from there, vote COMPLETELY DIFFERENT next election, and overall, nothing gets done. It's a cycle. One year Democrats will complain to the Republicans who gain control, then the next year vice-versa... And they do this to the majority voters only what they want to hear, just so they can get their darned candidate in office. Well when this cycle keeps repeating itself, nothing gets done. We eventually come to an agreement about some policies, but then come next election, we spend that time repealing what was just added and spend the rest of the time thinking of new policies.

If the economy does improve, maybe the republicans will be the cause. You can't really determine such a thing until you actually see the improvements.
A Republican will bash a Democrat simply because the Democrat suggests something that will benefit everyone over a single person
The thing is, many people don't see these policies as helping every single person, but rather becoming a drain. This is why there is so much disagreement.
All the attack ads are quite funny. The sheer amount of them is amazing too.
Mean like how they made things better the last time the had the chance?
And the democrats did what? I can argue that the democrats aren't fixing anything and therefor we need a change.
If you don't care for republicans, and success comes while republicans are the majority, you can't automatically assume they are riding the success of democrats.
To be honest, there's a good chance the republicans will simply stop going any further with current policies, yet they will fail to change them as well.

I agree they aren't doing anything significant. Though putting the power back in the hands of the people who screwed things up in the first place and clearly haven't learn a **** thing from their mistakes doesn't sound like a good change.

No, but we can trace things back to the source of what caused up turns. Most people will only see long term effect finally taking effect and give credit to who ever is in power when those effects take place instead of tracing it back to it's sources. Though unless someone with some good ideas actually starts really pushing their policies I don't see any huge positive changes anytime soon.

So basically they will just keep doing what the Democrats are doing. Though when the republicans do it it will some how be likely spun as a good thing.
I don't like either party, I'm for no party actually. But as I said the republicans are more up front with being slime. Though it's possible they are just more corrupt.
Eh, that's just the nature of politics in a Democratic-Republic. Change takes far too long to effect, and even longer to actually make an impact. It's really a counter-productive system IMHO, especially in a society that craves instant gratification.
Personally I think we need to rewrite the Constitution and make the nation more of a democracy and less of a republic, but that's never going to happen. Maybe I'll hook up with that guy who's building the island out of soda bottles and him and I will create a purely democratic sovereign nation.

Obama is actually doing a lot of the same things that Bush did. You know, with all the big bail outs, the stimulus package, heavy spending, health care entitlement programs. Bush may have gotten us into this mess, but Obama isn't doing anything to change it except for pushing NHC (which is not going to help us out economically).
So basically they will just keep doing what the Democrats are doing. Though when the republicans do it it will some how be likely spun as a good thing.
Pretty much the same exact thing that is happening with Obama.
But as I said the republicans are more up front with being slime. Though it's possible they are just more corrupt.
I personally believe democrats have more hidden agendas and therefore are more corrupt, but now we are just splitting hairs. Both republicans and democrats are getting involved in all the wrong ways.
