Potential radiation exposure or an intrusive physical search. Not much of a choice if you ask me. If you travel alot I would go with the physical search.

the amount of radiation is non hazardous... derp if it was then we'd all get cancer and the government would shut it down...

Yeah sure but once you read about how companies ignore the truth or publish information they want you to read, you too would be cautious.

Of course governments will shut it down if people got cancer but do you want to be one of the first? Herp.

TSA needs to get themselves together and think of a more effective way to catch terrorists. Not a single airport security gate has been successful in stopping terrorists in airports. Lucky, the terrorists have been screwing up mid-air (see terrorists beat up on airplane/underwear bomber).
Also, I could be wrong, but I read [somewhere] that the odds of dying in a terrorist hijacking are 1 in 20,000,000, while the odds of catching a deadly cancer from the body scanners are also 1 in 20,000,000.

Radiation doesn't necessarily cause cancer. There are many smaller symptoms depending on the type of radiation. For example, beta radiation can cause beta burns(and those are no fun), mild radiation sickness causes vomiting, etc. Just wanted to point that out.

But as it stands, you have three choices if you are chosen. You either get scanned by a machine that shows every little detail of your junk, get molested by TSA agents, or refuse a personal screening, get fined $10,000, and be 'escorted' out by armed guards. All because you had to wear that under-wire bra with the fillies on them.

They just should remove all the foreigners from their countries, so they won't be paranoid about 'terrorism'.

Considering that many of the modern-day terrorists are actually born and grow up in the countries they terrorize - you'd have to remove a helluva lot of immigrants, even those that are 2nd or 3rd generation.

There was a picture of what someone would look like under one of those scanners...and it was pretty revealing, but if someone were to invert it, it's almost a perfect representation of them as if they were...you get the idea, so yeah I think they need some blurring software or something...

Technically, only Native Americans are native to the USA. So if that happened here, there would be somewhere around one eighth of the USA population left(my guess).

All the scanners mean is discomfort, really, so I think it's worth it. It's better than having a terrorist on board with you. It isn't logical, anyway, since you couldn't find *every* person who is foreign. And it's difficult to judge anyway, since a lot of people were born in the United States and may be framed as foreign, when they're not, and vice-versa.

I think the pat-downs are wrong but the scanner seems okay.
Just wondering, would wearing sunscreen or a lead vest prevent or minimize any radiation exposure?

Sadly, many sunscreens don't block UVA radiation, nevermind that kind of radiation.
Many do not block UVA radiation, which does not cause sunburn but can increase the rate of melanoma, another kind of skin cancer, so people using sunscreens may be getting too much UVA without realizing it.
As for the lead vest, I think there would be a risk of lead poisoning, correct?

Not if it is the kind dentists use.
I thought it would be worth a shot

I dont see why people are all upset about this. Ive seen what the result of a scanner looks like, and its like, huh okay, its just a 3d diagram of the person. Not to mention the person working the computer is seeing 50000 people a day, so obviously hes going to pick out certain people...sarcasm...

Its a great idea. I would perfer to go through a scanner, then get blown up. These new ones detect things the old ones dont.

Apparently that information is classified.
