Now thats something I will agree to. I learned alot of military terms and statements from playing shotters. As I said earlier, they improve your warfare knowledge.
of course war games like CoD improve your knowledge about warfare but is it neccasery to put so much violence in these games? some people could be corrupted (i hope this is the word for it) or take psych damages
Yea thats true Equansa but thats why there is a rating and warning that the material in the game may be disturbing to some users. It sepends in the stomach of the user. Anyway, They've benn warned so they cant possibly complain.
i really hate it when people say this.i mean some games do that but most of them dont. there are many games that have a meaningful story and can actually make you a better person. some games teach you things without you even noticing. most of my english is just from video games. in my opninion people who say this are: 1. dont like video games 2. say this to sound smart 3. just dont understand how meaningful a video game can be or 4. they are so old that when they think about video games they think about pacman or old games like that that wont entertain you for more then 5 minutes.
i think you dont understand me. you are "normal" people like me! but there are other young person who feel this game not like us. they think they are General Shepard from MW1,2 or somthing. they are crazies because of these games! do you know what i mean?
and thats the point! of course its not the fault of these children!!!
me for example i used to play shooter with 12 years. first of all i didnt like these games because of the violence and because of my parents. They had never accept me playing these games. nowadays i love them because of the violence but i dont care! I think im long old enough to understand this games because i know the history and im harden enough to play them
If you want to learn real warfare, enlist yourself voluntarily as soon as you reach the legal age. Sure, you can hone your reflexes but playing video games doesn't help you attain the physical prowess necessary to last in a battle, or march for extended periods time. I'm pretty sure the amount of exercise a serviceman does is gruelling. In game your injuries aren't real and you can restart any time. Your enemies are computer generated and you aren't actually in the firefight. There's a reason why these games are games and not simulators used to train soldiers. Military forces have their own simulators, etc.
I honestly don't know an awful lot about infantry tactics but I sure as hell know that FPS games don't qualify you as being an expert on warfare. Experience. Anyway, you should know that I actually enjoy FPS games, but I don't know what kind of imbecile believes that CoD is a practical warfare bible.
Let us focus on the broader aspect of games being "braindrainers". I have nothing against video games; quite obviously I am practitioner of such time wasting. Though regarding all this we hear about kids and video games, I will keep an eye on how I raise my children (if I have any). You can't expect all younger children to fully understand what they're playing. Then again, games are usually a mixed bag. The most violent and sexually graphic ones are always targeted. In the end, I think it comes down to parenting.
This. Some people just have too great an imagination or a psyche for video gaming. Find a legitimate source of a correlation between video gaming and violence, dementia, mental retardation, or what have you, and I will fund all my cash earnings to a Christian Evangelist church that supports burning books like "The Origin of Species" and "Logic for First Graders". And if you are offended by what I just typed, go watch Family Guy.
There is seriously no evidence that points out that video games affect a mass of people like this. Do you know what the newspeople do? They find the extreme side of a topic and exploit it. Who cares about the median and the lower-end results, right? No, they care about only the parts of what speaks to them. Yeah, we are good scientists (sarcasm)!
I will say however, that children who play games frequently will get quite an imagination from them. We're talking from toddler to 5th grade. With this, they sometimes take this imagination that they learned from video games and (try to) bring it into reality. But of course, this is just imagination. It's not "brain-draining" them or anything. When you say brain-draining, you have to say "decreasing their intelligence trinity permanently".
What else? Those who play video games very frequently sometimes slip into a brain fart which they cannot effectively do the most simplest of tasks, such as 'find the drawer that X goes into and lock it'.
Video games require no imagination. Last I checked imnagination helped create worlds and play etc. Like building forts etc. I can guarantee that it takes no effort/pay off in regards to one's imagination for a video game

Video games do not require imagination, it creates it, as I've said.
