For me Heavy rain and Splinter cell have great story lines. You'll understand if you've played all the splinter cells and heavy rain.

Call of duty: modern warfare two was not rubbish. For me it was the best one next to world at war. All the weapons in mw2 and the story line was just magnificent. I do think they could've made the campaign longer but it was good enough. The online play was excellent. I played it every night for a while.

Red dead redemption is a good game. You can't really compare it to COD since there not entirely the same. If I were to compare it to the other GTA games then Red Dead Redemption is excellent. I liked how they made it a newer version based on the old west.
Have you played the zombie version of it yet? That was good. I loved it.

I think Black Ops had a very good storyline. A bit confusing, but still in the end everything made sense now, in my opinoin Black Ops mixed the storylines of World at War and Modern Warfare 2. I also liked the fact that Ice Cube comes out in it lol (:

I really like the Halo storyline. I've read all the books and played all the games. Although ODST isn't part of the storyline at all and I don't count Halo Wars.

The books are really interesting and the games also carry a unique storyline as well. You'd have to play all of them to really understand it though.

Halo is eh...
I only really liked 1 & 2. Other wise I just play the rest for the online.

A great storyline game though would have to be Mario and Spyro. Just throwing those two out there. They were very fun. Mario on the nintendo64 and Spyro on the PS1. Both very awesome games.

The Halo storyline is amazing with the books, but currently I think Assassin's Creed has a more engaging, interisting storyline.

kingdom hearts has the greatest story line ever.

The first Kingdom Hearts was superb and easily one of my favourite PS2 games. However, I honestly think it should've stayed a single game because the story in itself was self-contained. By making millions of sequels and Side-games they went waaaaaaay overboard with the story and it's just become a complete mess (though the gameplay is still excellent and is the main reason why I still keep playing those )

A great storyline game though would have to be Mario and Spyro.

Lolwut. Ever since they started adding Story-elements in the Galaxy games they keep declining with each installment (the unskippable cutscenes in Galaxy 2 were the worst because they were absolutely pointless, but then again I could say the same for the whole game). And having recently replayed Spyro 1 and 2 I can say they aged BADLY. They are still kinda fun in their on way, they get boring fairly soon. Not to mention those Mario64 and the Spyro games have ZERO story. They might have been awesome games in the past, but it's NOT because of the "story" they have.

assassins creed series takes the cake for me

Oh God. Personally I find it sad that games are made and PLANNED to be a Trilogy including several spinoff games. It just means that less effort is put into them (when the developers know they still get payed to make 54673583 other games from said franchise). The way any given Assasins Creed game ends is a bad joke, because it's like the developers tell you: You want to know how the story ends? THEN BUY OUR SEQUEL NEXT YEAR LOLOLOLOL.

While everyone keeps praising Brotherhood, the truth is that in the context of the story, the only story relevant thing happens at the veeeeeeery end of the game.Anything else that happened is pointless in the grand scheme of things.

I can't comment on the Call of Duty or Halo games because I never played any of those, excluding a few number of multiplayer games.

Personally my picks for good stories go to:

The original Kingdom Hearts (just viewing it as it's own seperate game)

Baldur's Gate 2 (maybe Dragon Age too but I still need to get around to playing it)

Final Fantasy VI

And all those games are pretty old so they should be cheap too

But if you REALLY want your story just get Final Fantasy XIII, it's literally a 50-hour movie with a Battle-system (that costs Full-price of course). And no that's not a good thing <_<
