black ops easily had the best story line.
Too like MW2, whereas Russia is bad in one way or another, even if not deliberately. Also I hate the deal that there was supposed to be a "grand scheme" going on, whereas it was nothing that I expected (in a bad way) because it was so flat. If they had turned the tables and made, say, made America the bad dude that has been attempting to undermine these "bandit lords" that were actually getting feed information off America through some inethical methods. Or something. In this way that would inflict the truth on you in that neither faction is a good one. Somewhat familiar to MW2, which would further homogenize it, so there's a bit of a puddle. Unless they expanded the storyline further, which would have been great, I would say.
In either case, Black Ops was not different, was not unique and was not worth the money I spent on it (in comparison to something like StarCraft II or even Dragon Age: Origins).
Anyway, rant is over. On topic, I believe these games / movies have the best storylines:
Lord of the Rings (it is original, I know it is a basic generic fantasy but it was original back in the day, I reckon).
Mass Effect II (Especially the ending where
*SPOILERS* you give that fantastic speech, destroy the enemy Collector Ship, or w/e it was and then you listen to the Harbinger with his wrath upon you.
*SPOILER ENDED*)World of Warcraft - How much lore, how some of it connects to Earth Mythology and the quantity of it is amazing. Quality is also very good.
Stargate - Mythology, Science, History, Astronomy, Biology, Religion, and awesomeness in one **** series.
Wait... Three series actually, and two movies (soon three, one based on Atlantis), as well as several other media pieces. This is probably the best storyline I've ever known.
Starcraft - I've only played Starcraft II but it was very grasping with the huge variety of different characters which many other games / films etc lack.
