In order to add an Ability (Keen, Flaming, Vorpal, etc.) to a weapon, it must first be +1. The +1 is an Enhancement Bonus. It is added to all Attack and Damage rolls and makes the weapon harder to destroy. Effects are not Enhancements, but are still counted when determining the price of the weapon by adding the effective Enhancement codt (Flaming is +1, Vorpal is +5, etc.) to the actual enhancement level of the weapon (must be at least +1 to have an effect). A Flaming weapon would be a +1 Flaming _____. This would give it a minimum cost of 8000 gp.
I did check it right before I made Popo and a few times before.
In addition to an enhancement bonus, weapons may have special abilities. Special abilities count as additional bonuses for determining the market value of the item, but do not modify attack or damage bonuses (except where specifically noted). A single weapon cannot have a modified bonus (enhancement bonus plus special ability bonus equivalents) higher than +10. A weapon with a special ability must have at least a +1 enhancement bonus.
Yeah, that figures. I obviously never read that last part... Oh, well, shows what I know. I used to have the core books completely memorized, but over the years I learned the rules for so many systems I forget things all the time, especially in D&D. Only 18 and I already feel like an old man, lol.
...So, is Sirnoobs off for the night? Well, I guess we can try to pick this up tommorow. I am really tired anyway, though I'm not sure why... good night everyone.
