An example, I live near Chicago (you don't have to actually live in the city, but as long as you're close) and we're famous for our pizza; deep-dish especially.

New Haven, CT is famous for its amazing pizza. However, my state as a whole (since it's pretty small, Connecticut) is famous for its college basketball program over at UConn, since UConn Men's basketball is ranked #5 in the country, while the UConn women recently broke the record for most consecutive wins in college basketball, 90, and they're ranked #2 in the country for Women's basketball

My area is famous for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleavland Browns, and I suppose some other things. Like corn, we grow a lot of that.
