I'm a deadly DK. I mean Donkey Kong, not Diddy Kong. I mastered his moves in Melee and they haven't really changed much in Brawl. The only downside is his smash ball move is tough to use. He makes up for it, though, by having the ability to throw other players off the stage.
I'm also a great Bowser. Now there's a difficult character to master, but I accomplished it in no time. His smash ball move is a much better one, as, even though all it does is make him larger and stronger, it's still a pretty dangerous thing to make Bowser even stronger than he is.
I'm a Falco Lombardi man myself. Though not as quick as Fox McCloud, he is stronger and his moves deal more damage. Strength is what I look for in a character, not speed.
