I know this thread has probably been made a Brazilian times, but hear me out. This one asks a more specific question:
Is the life sentence without parole worse than the death sentence? I am not asking if you think it is legal, but if it is worse to rot in prison or to die without pain?
Not really. We teach people not to kill others very early on in life, at least most do. Then, when they go and do it anyway, they get punished with death. Really, this the only part of an "eye for an eye" system that I would agree with.
Please, do not spam this thread. This thread isn't about if you are pro death penalty, if it is efficient, if it is immoral or moral, or if it is more expensive.
This thread is about if it is worse for the convicted to be killed by lethal injection (where he is first paralyzed, numbed, and then his heart finally is stopped), or if it is worse for the convicted to rot in jail.
Please keep the discussion about that, or else this thread will have to be locked.
Honsetly it should be a choice. If they want to live it out...Live it out, if they want to end it....end it.
Well, I find it weird how someone would want to choose. Most people would say life sentence in prison without parole is better than death. But, at the same time, the death penalty would be easier since prison can become torture.

You have to put yourself in that position, how would you feel if the rest of your natural life was to be spent within the walls of a prison, you would be the proverbial caged bird. We as humans love our freedom, we seek it in every avenue of our lives, to be imprisoned is a complete opposite, it goes against our very natures.
They do if they intentionally cause others to suffer, and generally it's a lot worse than a split second zap.
I assume this means you're in favor of killing people who carry out the death penalty, then.
What's the argument AGAINST the death penalty other than immorality?
What is the argument for it? Revenge isn't a very pragmatic institution. Harming others for doing harm doesn't help anyone. Killing a murderer won't help the victim. It helps no one. So why do it? Or, who does it help?

Actually, it seems to be about the death penalty in general. OP got ignored pretty hard.

So you would agree that the death penalty seems to be softer than life sentence without parole? Than why have it?
I want the people who are pro- death penalty, to say that the death penalty is worse than life sentence without parole, and then slam them hard against the wall.

It took a slight detour, and now I am trying to steer it back on track.
I'd rather be killed than live in misery. What would be the point of living? Mostly, you would be awaiting your death. Besides, no *insert here* is better than a bad*insert something here*. This is exceptional when something has some redeeming qualities, but a life of being cage up in a cell is pretty crappy, and isn't worth it.

So you agree it is worse to rot in prison? Then why are people pro-death penalty?

Maybe they're trying to cut down on senseless cruelty. Maybe I'm just projecting :P
I can't decide which is worse. For me... on one hand, I don't fear death, but on the other, a prison's not a prison if you can free your mind.
I think it would be better to be imprisoned. Dying's game over. As long as you're alive, you have chips in the pot, and you can do stuff. Maybe get out. Maybe accomplish something great. Maybe just further the search for truth.

Yes, there are benefits to life in prison, but living life without the chance of ever getting out? Mentally, it may not be a prison, but to people who do not know how to deal with it, it can be hell. Besides, staying somewhere for 60+ years in the same place? That sounds torturous.
