So what does everyone think of the four different color wooden planks? I personally hate them. I'm building a big house for myself out of planks, and I want the planks to match. Now I have to go out and get a specific type of wood for my house to match. It's super annoying. Speaking of super annoying...SPAM-BOTS! Keep commenting at the mods and emailing the ad-bot removing administrator at support@armorgames.com ... But anyway. Let's not get off topic. So what's your opinion on the new planks?

I like the new planks. It gives more options to build with and that's never a bad thing.

If you want the planks to match, make a tree farm with that type of tree. All you have to do is find one of that tree and get a sapling, then you can have a large amount of that tree in no time.

I have basically mastered Minecraft.
I mean, I defeated 4 EnderDragons (+1 for multiplayer) and from the statistics I've defeated about 1000+ mobs!

I've build an Iron Temple, Golden Statues, Stone GIANT Rooms, and pixel art stuff.

Minecraft is epic.

Well another downside to the new planks is if you have two stacks of 32 planks. Each stack is a different kind of plank. You can't stack them together, they have to be in their own stacks and it clutters inventory. It's much easier to stack the planks when they're all one type.

Tree farming is difficult and time-consuming. You have to find the right kind of biome for the tree you want to farm, you have to find a large and open enough space to for the farm, you have to make sure the trees are spaced evenly and appropriately or else they won't grow. It's quite a hassle.

And just to fire up more discussion, who is against and for the ocelots/cats? They're benefit is: They keep creepers away. They're downsides are: They don't fight enemies, and they sit on your storage chests. .. I think they're downsides far outweigh their benefits because creepers are never really a problem if you are alert and have proper armor. Thus, I am also against the cats.

Well, I like the idea of cats in Minecraft because, personally, I'm more of a cat person than a man-eating wolf person. But it really doesn't make any sense that feeding an ocelot a raw fish, they instantly turn into an oversized house cat. And it's pretty gross/weird that two cats can have a baby every five minutes. I wasn't even aware that cats protect you from creepers and I'm for cats. I guess creepers are allergic to cats or something; doesn't make much sense.

Wow. That was bias. Anyway. Ocelots can be man-eating as much as wolves can.

And I guess a square sun, zombies, a single person building a house in a matter of minutes, certain objects not succumbing to gravity, skeletons, magic weapons, a portal to another world, and giant spiders make perfect sense.

My vote is still for dogs over cats.

Neither does elephants being afraid of mice (and yes there are mythbusters tested it)

I think the new planks are epic they make it so you can have different colour wood I think the next thing they should do is change the wood stuff you make change according to the wood you use

True. However you can still carry a fair amount of each. You also don't have to carry more than one type at a time if you're going to be mass laying them.

Depends. For normal trees it doesn't matter.

You have to find the right kind of biome for the tree you want to farm, you have to find a large and open enough space to for the farm,

Only if you want a grid farm. My "tree farms" are usually just me cutting down a whole bunch of trees and replanting them within close areas of each other. Or you can just clear a space from a relatively open area.

It's quite a hassle.

That's survival for you though.

I have yet to find any ocelots, but the cats are fairly annoying (I even like cats irl so yeah >.&lt What's the range that they keep creepers away?

They are only found when the game is set to "Normal" and not "Peaceful". They are also only found in and/or near jungle biomes.

I bet the wiki has the exact specs. But it is quite a decent range.

I play on Hard, does that affect their spawning? I've yet to seriously explore Jungle Biomes though, as I just started playing Minecraft again after a 3-4 month hiatus and have only gone there to cut down 2-3 jungle trees. I personally haven't seen any cats (on my game) btw, the ones I've seen were on my sister's game where she had like 4-5 of them in a cage >.<

Does it work in all directions or just the one the cat is facing?

Timber mod. *trollface.jpeg*

Anyways, It really ticks me off that there are no half-blocks and stairs in these new wood colors. I mean how hard would it have been for them?

I know right? I need dark stairs! And slabs! See, i'm an avid shipbuilder, and if I have a ship with a chocolate brown deck and then bright wood access stairways, one really just goes; Oh, decent job, Mojang. Midget, badly planned update, where the new items are almost zilch. Let's hope they make a massive block update, with at least 25 new blocks.
Also, I'm thinking about posting a thread on how to build good looking, realistic ships. Comment on my profile if you think I should! =)

I wouldn't mind reading that, although I don't see why it couldn't go on this thread and you just bookmark the pages it covers in your profile.

Although, the only real key to building in Minecraft is realizing that size = detail. That, and knowing how to make curves/scale/texture on things.

Yes, 1.2.4. This wasn't intended to be a major update, if it was, the game would have been updated to 1.3.0. They've always updated like this, small updates with tiny features and bug fixes, and big updates with new gameplay.
