You're supposed to have fun and survive. There is an ending, but a lot of people say it doesn't have one. There is an end, it is even called "The End".
I have gotten re-addicted to this game. And I found an awesome seed.

It's when the credits roll. Is it the end of a 50's movie when the credits play at the start? No. What about those annoying games where you play a disguised intro and then the credits roll? Still nope.
Minecraft is a sandbox survival game, it has no end. Killing the Ender Dragon in an place called "The End" doesn't mean that's the end of the game.
Did ya hear? In 1.3 there are going to be emeralds! and trading with npcs! and bottle of enchnting in survival! And assorted temples!
Wow I'm gonna be able to find so many glitches for duping items in trade. Bottle of enchanting would really only be useful if it would give alot more exp orbs since it's i think three glass a bottle and over 64 to actualy make the potions of use to you.

If you go to "The End" and beat the boss there, the ender dragon, then the credits roll. So yes, it has an end.
After killing the Ender Dragon and watching the credits roll, is the game any different whatsoever aside from the Ender Dragon is dead? Thought not. Thus it's not the end of a game, it's a boss which has the credits roll after it.
Also, i would play minecraft hunger games, but i have NO IDEA how to play multiplayer on it.
