Many instances of school shootings, bombings, or killing is often pointed at video games as the cause, but is it really their fault? Just because a game allows you to kill civilians does not mean that someone will want to do it, I have recently had a discussion with a friend who saw on the news that the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, was to blame for the recent Russian bombing because the game has a level where you are able to kill civilians in a Russian airport. The video games that allowing innocent killing does not mean they support it. How a person is raised and treated growing up is why they would even consider this, which most kids have enough commen sense to know, you cannot "restart" or "respond" in life. I strongly disagree to the idea that video games are the cause of most killings today.
I was raised to know the bad things in video games, and what to avoid in life. I think if you are raised right then video games have no impact on you. If you grow up watching R movies and playing GTA when your like three... Things might be different
Listen, I played games like Wolfenstein, DOOM and Quake II when I was seven (I'm not exaggerating), and I've played violent games a LOT since then. So, I started playing violent video games when I was around seven, and have been playing violent games for 12 years now. According to some of these narrow-minded (blank)s I should be some kind of psychopath, with no respect for human lives. Well, I can't stand SAW or other gory movies, and I don't like TV shows like "Whacked Out Sports" where they just show people faceplanting at 100 MPH or such. Really, those (blank)s are way off. I'm definitely not a violent person.
Most people who go out and shoot someone after they played videogames have other problems, such as videogame addiction or antisocial disorders. If anything, videogames inspire confidence and allow people to vent anger.
How do you know video games didn't cause their problems (Highly unlikely)
I am saying simply the reason M rated games aren't for 5 year olds, is because they aren't old enough to understand the level of violence in the game. a 15 year old does, and so, if a 155 year old plays DOOM, he isn't going to wake up one day and gun down his school.
If you are raised this way, the chances of you going out and killing people from a video game is slim
Those games are rated M because there to complicated for small kids...well and for stupid parents that dont let thier 12 year old son play any good games (me)
I agree with those saying it doesn't create violent thoughts just like that, there must be something already there for someone to go amok. It's not the games that create suicidal gunners; it's the suicidal gunners who like to play these games. Others like to play them too, but are plain normal gamers.
Wow, that is a lot. My father told me once that some boys were so good and addicted to video games that they got their father's guns, made a barricade in front of the school and started shooting at the people. I don't think video games cause people to kill each other but sometimes bad things can happen.
Video games do definatley not cause people togo round shooting/stabbing each other people who have special needs are actully prohibited of playing Video Games from there parents not that I am one like but I know that. People do not attempt to kill people like in Games but some do Attempt to do verious actions and stunts like Playable Charcters and preform Role Play based on the story line of the game
If violent video games cause people to shoot other people, then non-violent video games cause people to do non violent things. I played Harvest Moon a lot when I was younger, and the most I want to do is start gardening, not become a farmer. But the media doesn't want to report stories like that. They focus on the violence, and that helps perpetuate the cycle of influences that they speak out against.
it depends really. if a parent lets their kids play COD when they are nine, they will probably get a bit crazy while growing up. thats why most parents tend to give their child animal crossing or some wii game
Of course violence has been around for a long time, and it always has a cause.
But was the cause always actually there? Violence was as pointless then as it is now.
A sniping was blamed on Halo. They said the boy practiced by sniping in-game. This is TOTAL BULL-SHYT. Viedo games portraying violence are far better than what our parents and grand-parents had. I believe most of us here have watched Loony-Toons (Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Coyote and Road Runner, Tweetie Bird, etc.) They portray extreme violence, shooting people and blowing people up, all without any consequences except a thick layer of soot or a couple bandages. At the very worst, somebody needs a wheel chair until next week. What is the reason nobody blamed these shows for violence? Kids knew about guns. Guns were more readily available and nearly every house had one. The parents and society actually taught kids about guns instead of demonizing them. If a kid knew about guns, he wouldn't accidentally shoot his sister playing with it, as anti-gun legislaturists made a public spectacle of a few years back. It is society's and parent's fault, not entertainment.
I'm sorry I must say it this way, but it seems the only thing left to say:
