Ah, America!!! http://a3.twimg.com/profile_images/121301631/800px-USA_Flag_Map.svg_normal.png

Now I've been seeing a lot of negativity about the greatest country on earth, home of doughboys and applepies and moms and the City that Never Sleeps, and why is that? C'mon, can't the haters stop hating, and we all just love the USA? Lets just look at who could be around today, controlling the world, if it wasn't for America.

About the democracy:

You have to go down 17 places to find the World Leader, and largest Super-Power.

About the freedom:

Because America is the ONLY country with biased or racist individuals. -__-

About the justice:

Thats not true Justice, and ALL systems have their flaws.

That attitude is the same reason why America is so disliked on other continents.

And its exactly that attitude thats the cause of why America has lasted as long as it has. Has America ever been defeated? No. Has America ever been bested? No. Has America ever been sent physically reeling from another Nation's actions? No. No. NO!

America can take credit for the development of efficient mass production of automobiles but not their invention.

Automobiles as we know them. Before, they were more like automated carriages.

The first surgery preformed on the heart was done by a Norwegian doctor.

First Sucessful heart surgery, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Hale_Williams

This was a joint project between several nations, So the US only get's partial credit for this one.

Not really... Were many of the scientist of foreign ethninticity, yes. However, the (Manhattan) Project was operated in, and funded by, the US. So yes, I'd say its an American Invention.

Sure doesn't feel like it at times.

Than join Michelle Obama, I quote: "For the first time in my Adult life, I am truly proud of the United States."

Seriously? GTFO.

Charcoal (By Ford no less)

Genius move. What do we do with all the wood left over from my factorites? Charcoal!

Sure, USA were the first on the moon, but the first country in space was Russia.

IF you always say that, than noones acomplishments mean anything; there worthless, or have been 'beaten'.

The first into space was actually the germans with their V2 rocket.

The German name for the V2, translated literally, means 'Shot into Space'. Surely the source of your confusion?

Everyone is is always saying their X is better then your Y.

Well as an American I will say, America is pretty average.

"My country is awesome in every way because I say so, so start loving it already"-attitude sort of pisses me off.

I live in America and I find it annoying as well.

Stereotyping is typical (and wrong). In fact, most stereotypes are off - they usually display the bad sides of things. If we weren't portrayed as 'ignorant', then it would probably be something much, much worse. Be thankful.

Uuh, I'm pretty sure you just contradicted yourself there, buddy.

As the very words after what you quoted said, it was a joke. L2Read (long time since I used that abbreviation).

Commanderdude7, someone doesn't like you!!!

Once again, learn to read. I clearly stated that I was talking about the OP.

Thats not true Justice, and ALL systems have their flaws.

This is a reply to all three things there, I just CBA to quote them all.

Yes, all systems have their flaws. My point was not that your system had flaws, my point was that your system was in no way superior to other countries' systems.

IF you always say that, than noones acomplishments mean anything; there worthless, or have been 'beaten'.

This doesn't make a lot of sense. Sure, just because electricity was invented doesn't mean people shouldn't invent stuff using electricity. I assume that's sort of what you meant. However! If someone does invent something using electricity, like a light bulb, then they cannot take credits for inventing electricity as well.

This example might not get the point through, what I'm trying to say is that even though you were the first to put a man on the moon, the Russians were a first to send a man into space, and sure, sending a man to the moon is a bigger step than just sending one to space, but the step from sending a man to space and sending a man to the moon is much, much smaller than the step from being on Earth and sending a man to space. If I'm going to go back to my previous example, this could be put as that, in the space race, the Russians did something equivalent of inventing electricity, and you then did something equivalent of making a light bulb out of that electricity.

i have sen many British people complaining about America and i do feel like they are being hypocrites with all their stereotyping.

Yes, occasionally I feel the same way, then I come across people like the OP of this thread. However, the point here isn't that Americans are proud to be American, it's that they seem to think they're superior to everyone else, without a good reason.

I'm sure the majority of the Americans are decent people, who know better than to say such ridiculous things as:

America is a shining beacon standing for freedom, democracy, and justice. Mess with us, and we're gonna knock you on your ***.

or

C'mon, can't the haters stop hating, and we all just love the USA? Lets just look at who could be around today, controlling the world, if it wasn't for America.

Unfortunately, however, the narrow-minded fools who don't know better are usually also the loudest ones, and the ones you notice.

I'm guessing you have had a thorough education of sarcasm.

[according to others who stereotype us] We all need a lesson in arrogance and ignorance... Which is probably true, to some extent. But the for those who are stereotypically American, they need to learn to shut up and listen, give an honest opinion, etc.

Electricity would be a discovery not an invention. But that doesn't really defeat the point you were making.

Fox news............ If that isn't reason enough for most foreign countries to dislike us becuase of bigoted ideas, I don't know what is.

Just for the record, I do live in the US. I get the same crappy schooling that is standard here (teachers applaud mediocrity) and I breathe the same air every other American breaths. For christs sake, I even live in one of the original thirteen colonies! I know what America is about!

Saying the US is not a great military force is a lie, so is saying that it isn't a potent peacekeeping force throughout the world. Our currency is the standard of the world. Most things in the world are based off of the US dollar as a standard. We have defeated evil people, and have helped put peace treaties into effect in the middle east.

Now, after I have said all of that, time for me to say why I think that we are arrogant.

We joined both of the Great Wars long after their conception, and then claim credit for the victories like it was all our doing. America flips off the UN on many things and decides that it is to big to touch, like when we went into Iraq without UN support. It takes our presidents many days to show up at disasters that happen in our country, and we hate our president, no matter what his policies are. We have had to major finacial collapses in the last 100 years and still think we can't fail when it comes to our own country, and we are basically ignorant of the world around us. People in America couldn't tell you the president of Iran, when Iranians could tell you the President, Vice President, House Representative, Minority Whip, and various other officials. We are so ignorant it is repulsive.

Sorry for my rant, but that is how I feel.

Umm...I don't see anything arrogant about this at all.

Just because said Iranian could tell you who these people are in American doesn't make not knowing the president of Iran any more or less important. They are distinct and don't affect the others' virtue at all.

I don't see why this sort of knowledge is even necessary in the first place. So you shouldn't be so repulsed by American's ... "ignorance."

That said, "common sense" is not so common - and the people in America are really no different from people anywhere else.

I also have to add in my opinion that the reason most Americans don't know the other countries leaders is because we are not so close to them. Germany,Austria,Slovakia,Czech Republic probably know each others world leaders because they have to. they are right next to each other and if anything bad were to happen, then it would be a good advantage to know their leaders. America doesn't do that because not "too many" countries are bordering us. Do i make somewhat of a point here?

Yes, but I doubt we could even tell you who the leader of Mexico or Canada is...

Very true, but if we are going to call ourselves the "Greatest Country on Earth" we should at least know the rulers of some of the countries we are competing against.

Something seems a little incorrect about your statement; OH wait all of it!
By the way, communism works, just not for humanity. There has never been a truly communist country.
