It's funny how your almost never born atheist, you become atheist. I personally think the whole religion thing is far fetched. Why cant we just be dead after we die? Why does there HAVE to be an afterlife? Dont get me wrong i respect others decisions, I just don't believe in it, who's with me? I'm going to be some grass fertilizer one day And home to some maggots + worms.
I was raised to be catholic and it sucked. I think it's stupid and makes no sense. I live in a small town that shuns everyone that they hear might not believe in god. As soon as I told someone that I thought it was stupid they started freaking out and it was really weird because it was in the middle of class. It was pretty funny because I don't really care what other people think.
Gotta love being an Atheistic Buddhist, It's such a flexible religion. I wouldn't even call it a religions more of a philosophy of life.
That is also cool, I respect that and mildly believe in it.
"All my followers should not accept my teaching out of devotion or faith; but rather through investigation and experiment."
Makes it sound like more of an scientific religion.
I'm an Atheist but I could listen to this guy all day, we'd disagree on some stuff but this is not the stupidity of faith we see from muslims and christians.
I'm not sure how this comment on youtube go so many up-votes since Buddhism is not deity based. Saddens me that even smart people can be this stupid.
A simple way to prove that the christian god does not exist or at least is not worth praying to is that the bible endorses many things that we consider bad such as genocide and slavery
Since to people today those things are clearly wrong any deity who is worth worshipping should at least have put in the bible these things are not the right thing to do any more or something
Also, all children are born agnostics but our society labels them as religious. This is pretty much the same thing as saying a 3 yr old is a Marxist, a communist or is a feminist. As with all these other things you can't be decided on whether to believe in them or not until you are old enough to have thought about it and decided that God either exists or doesn't. However, since children are genetically programmed to believe what a figure of authority tells them if they are brought being told that god exists they are far more likely to continue believing in them than if they are brought up think god doesn't exist. For this reason I think that young children shouldn't be instructed about religion until they reach an age old enough to be able to think about it properly
I strongly believe that, we, atheists are people who believe in what we see or can comprehend, my guess is we try hard to not be fooled (personal experience). I view religion as a mass-control tool, rather than anything else, a very old scheme really. look at it this way why do priests need so much money? I know many things which explain how a religion is a fraud, and would like to reconvert religious people back to "normal" so they wouldn't accept wars in the name of god or souffer thinking it's a test god gave them when in reallity there is an a***ole beeing mean.

Not all do. I used to have a priest that was even sad that the pope had a golden crown made for him. because, well it was unessaciary and the money could have been used for a better cause.

There are always some anomalies. Just because some catholic priests are pedophiles it doesn't mean all are. And why is there tithing if priests don't want money and anyway money is power and people always use religion to get power.
I know people who read it all the time. I was in one's room when he was reading Timothy and he read through a part where it basically read "women need to stfu and just make babies" and he was like "I don't think I agree w/ that....." and kept reading... still reads it... and is oddly enough what you guys would call more "holier than thou" after the fact... he's not the only one I know that way either.
