It's funny how your almost never born atheist, you become atheist. I personally think the whole religion thing is far fetched. Why cant we just be dead after we die? Why does there HAVE to be an afterlife? Dont get me wrong i respect others decisions, I just don't believe in it, who's with me? I'm going to be some grass fertilizer one day And home to some maggots + worms.

Homosexuals would be similarly despised even WITHOUT religion...

Uh..no they wouldn't. Sure some people would, but religion TEACHES that homosexuality is immoral and essentially evil.

Well, some. not all. my church teachs that it's perfectly fine and that they're no different.

That's not place for Freudian philospohical-physiological squicky debate about why sex is found unclean, and religion has nothing to do with this...
And there ARE people who are atheist and homophobic. That's just hatred toward everythings that different. Sure, part of taht hatred is in religions, but it is really in us. Everybody got evil within, small vile part, hatred toward everything that is different. Thats evolutionary adaptation. If its different, then MAY be hostile, so better destroy it.

Sure there are. That's why it's called a &quothobia" an irrational fear of something. Keyword, Irrational.

That's just hatred toward everythings that different.

That would be Xenophobic, or just a bigot in general. Bigots are raised, not born.

I personally would never have thought that I was inherently evil just for existing, nor do I think so now.

It is. Tolerant people just easily fight it off.
Yet, some people don't.
And xenophobia is about actual aliens, as far as i know.
Wait, I'll check...

You would not consider homosexuals to be against the current grain of culture? And certainly hating/fearing people just because they are different could classify under Xenophobia.

I have to agree that there are people who are homophobic regardless of religion or lack thereof, it's just natural to fear something that is different to you. But some christian denominations just use the bible as a fuel and an amplifier for hatred. I know many people who find gays icky that are atheists or not deeply religious, but I see quite a few 'god hates ***s' signs. I have yet to see a protest against homosexuality with no religious affiliation, if there are any then it is so rare I haven't seen one yet. I don't see atheistic groups speaking out against homosexuality.

But, humans are always afraid of things that are different, that are new, afraid of changes. It's instinct. Some just can control it, some cn't.

And by that matter - I really don't see the problem with victimless "sins" outside religion.

Wait, that reasoning is wrong. There are religious people, and nonreligious people.
When nonreligious people hate someone or something, they just hate it. Pure hate. But, when religious people hate something, they like to justify themselves that "God hates X" (you could add - too, im not alone). As i recall, once, either here or in Christianity WTF was raised issue of "Rock and Roll is insult to God". Old people hate changes even more than young. When thy are religious, they simply form sych sentences. It has nothing to do with religion.
