I'm sitting here watching the news and all of a sudden the people start talking about children sexting each other... apparently it has some people freaking out. Its a big enough issue that some states are trying to make laws about it. Sexting is defined by them as not only being words... but sending images of themselves. Thus they call it distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
They've talked about jail time, classes (akin to driving school kinda classes...but w/ sexting >_> , fining the parents, whether or not to give the kid a criminal record.... does anyone have any further insight into the situation? does anyone have anything that they would like to say that either agrees or disagrees w/ the other people's suggestions? do you have any suggestions? ...or do you care?
You want me to tell you what happens when you sext, in the form of a statistic. How about you go make a hamburger into pizza first?
No. I want you to tell me WHAT AGE GROUPS sext in the form of a statistic, since you made the claim that younger people are more likly to sext.
Maybe you could just look it up and see what it says instead of being a lazy ***.
Or you could tell me what it says, or wait until tomorrow, the download will be around midnight at this rate.
Why do I need to give you a statistic? All I am saying is that when you sext, you become a registered sex offender. Listen to yourself. You make no sense.
What? I am asking about the AGE OF SEXTERS still. I want to know what the AGE OF SEXTERS are relative to other ages.
I am not saying anything other than what happens to you once you sext.
Oh and the thesaurus thing, a statistic is a fact, but a fact is not always a statistic. You see how fact is not listed under the synonyms for statistic?
Did you notice how data is in both? A synonym of a synonym is a synonym.
I am not wrong and neither are you, but we are both punching blindly.
You just hinted that I was wrong. How far is your head up your ***? That is the third time I felt the need to ask today...
You are attacking me on something completely different than what I am saying.
And you are attempting to focus on a word that I am using correctly, attempting to state that I am somehow using it wrong. You seem to be the one attacking something that is far away from the point.
I am saying that being a devil's advocate just for the sake of standing up to authority is what you are doing. Also, if you saw the video, which you didn't, then you would know what I am talking about.
Tomorrow I will watch the video, and why are you suggesting I am simply standing up to authority? Do you even know what the authority in my aria states?
Oh, my gosh. I wanted to see what people discussed on the forum, and I must say, this is NOT what I expected. Though, of course, this is a serious topic and I'm not saying its not important.
I just read everything on this thread and have come up with only one real comment on the whole thing.
I find it absolutely pathetic that kids/adults/whatever find the need to have sex on their phones. It's absolutely stupid, in my opinion, to think that by typing out sex and sending dumb, blurry, arm-stretched photos of yourself to someone else, you should even call it sex. It's porn, plain and simple. Not to mention absolutely one of the most imbecilic ways you could ruin your life.
Ok, let's not even go back over the irresponsible nature of this, that someday Joe Armstretch may want to actually...I don't know...grow up, or Suzie Blurrymelons may actually try and ...I don't know...try and get a promotion in the future. Yeah, let's not even go back over that part.
Let's concentrate on the simple truth that once you snap your dirty bits onto your camera and hit send, it's out there in Internetverland, just waiting for some sick b*stard to get his grimys on it, and blackmail the bloody pants off of you, destroy your reputation, ruin your bid for Chairman of the Board, or Senator and basically make your life a living hell. Once it's out there, it's out there and it may just come back and bite you in the blurrys someday, (just ask former Congressman Chris Lee). "But Strongbow, I see celebraties get caught 'accidentally', and they turn out ok..." Ok, news flash. Even if it was accidental, they have teams of well-paid PR people that either turn the situation around or dilute it till everyone forgets that it even happened. Unless you can afford to have your own PR team, guess what? That parachute you just opened was nothing but an anvil. Bottom line, they're rich and dumb, everyone else is just dumb.
Secondly, can I just say...Just How Bloody Lazy Are You people?!?! What, you can't even bump uglys in person anymore? Whatever happened to good old fashioned, whee this is fun, I hope we aren't late for fourth period, ouch you're on my hair, sex?! Sheesh...it's like people can't even swap fluids unless there's an app for it. Get off your lazy butts and work for it like everyone else!
So its illegal in fear of distribution? If you are sending a nude or pornographic picture of your self to someone in the first place, shouldn't you TRUST them enough to not distribute it? Is it a governments job to decide whether people can trust each other?
For those who oppose sexting, did you ever have any "adult" experiences as a minor? Any thing underage? I know I have, and I want everyone to have the same opportunities as I do, for better or for worse.
Translation: I pulled those numbers out of my *** and being pissy because I got called on it.
I didn't pull any numbers. What I said is that teens are more likely to sext. There is not a number or anything. I thought it was common knowledge but since he is too lazy to actually look it up, then I don't think i should have to.
sexting is a serious problem and people are at their own risk when they send a nude photo of themselves to someone else. âWhen you send a text message with a nude photo of yourself, you are in fact, sending it out into cyberspace" therefore ANYONE has access. ââSextingâ technically can meet the definition of some state child pornography laws, but it is incumbent upon prosecutors to take into account the intention of [those] laws, which were drafted for adult offenders who acquire or distribute photos of children with the intent of exploiting them."

What makes it a "serious problem"?
When you send a text message with a nude photo of yourself, you are in fact, sending it out into cyberspace" therefore ANYONE has access. Anyone who is able to access the photo has access to it, if one person puts the photo on the internet for example, then yes it is accessible, but otherwise no. I don't get what you are trying to say in the second one, which seems to be saying that it is OK to send pornography if a teenager or younger as long as you are sending it to another teenager...

Has anyone actually had the nerve to call it sex? I doubt that. It's called sexting. It's the name. It is porn, people get that. That whole paragraph you wrote was completely pointless. The only thing it could be applied to is cybersex and even then noone would really consider it sex. It's a name. That's all it will be.
Doesn't it freak you out that one day you're children will be doing it?
One day my kids will be watching porn and having sex. I don't have a problem with that and in all honesty I would have to advise them against it, but if thats what they want to do they can go ahead.
I'm sure someone already said this, But i find it rediculous that the kids who get the message sent to them get in trouble. This happened at my school, some girl sent my friend a nude pic, he ignored and reported it but he still got a suspention.
But the problem with people saying they'll go to prison, have a criminal record etc is that that it will only happen if the receiver reports it and since it's 2 kids sending it to each other if no one reports it they should be allowed to do it.
I say that it is NOT the parent's fault UNLESS THEY KNEW THEIR CHILD WAS DOING THIS! If they had absolutely NO IDEA that their child was participating in this illegal act, then no. Parents should not get in trouble. As for the kids, I say they should get in trouble as it is considered underage porn wether it be words OR suggestive ideas. Its wrong and unwholesome. Many teens and people have been hurt by this act.
Okay, look. The government should only impose laws that have a direct advantage for the people. If the government puts a law that stops you from doing something that doesn't harm anyone or only you, then the government owns you. And that's not right. No one should own your own body, but yourself.
