I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done. I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please
Care to explain how? I consider myself to be well informed on the subject, even if I'm not an expert.
We know that Christ is real because of historical records
While I'm not discounting the possibility that someone calling themselves the son of God existed and that a semblance of things in the Bible may have happened, you're making quite a large jump to assume these things. There are no reliable historical records that definitively prove such a character existed.
ALMOST EVERY FRIKIN RELIGION EVER MADE REVOLVES AROUND
Not even close to almost every. You are talking about one religion. Three if you want to take out the phrase "revolves around." Christianity is one of thousands. Granted, those three are among the largest, but popularity does not denote fact.
Your the guy thats taking about biases and other stuff but in fact you don't even know the facts.
I believe I do know the facts. Point out where you think what I've said is wrong if you find any.
Is that grammar good enough for.
Yes, I can understand what you're trying to say without guessing on parts now.
If you are so occupied with trying to prove everything christianity revolves around then maybe you should try reading the bible
I have read the Bible before, although not from start to finish in order and over eight years ago.
and go to church trying to get something out of it.
I mentioned this before, but I went to church. For around 10 years I was required to go by my parents and I was not exposed to any other religion. Still, after looking at what was being told to me, I determined that there wasn't any real reason to believe it. Now, nine years later, I've looked into it a lot more and I can assert without doubt that, at the very least, the literal interpretation of the Bible is wrong. It is full of contradictions and impossible happenings. It is riddled with logical failings and an inconsistent god. It does not align to what we can determine for ourselves. All that leaves us with is, at best, a book of metaphors that are incomprehensible in the number of ways to interpret them.
Maybe that will do something for you
What exactly would going to church do for me? Sure, I could take an hour + out of my Sunday mornings mindlessly listening to someone talking about God...but what of it?
Yes when you are working in the spirit of christ thanks and goodnight
I get those same feelings when I beat a video game too. Guess that's working in the spirit of Christ too?
Why do you attribute a sense of accomplishment, satisfaction, or just general well being to some unseen cause?
We know that Christ is real because of historical records ALMOST EVERY FRIKIN RELIGION EVER MADE REVOLVES AROUND
Explain Noah's ark then. Explain the parting seas.
a second grader might be able to help you with that
Yeah, no. A high schooler would be lucky to be able to read it well. Maybe your highschoolers are six-teen over there? Maybe because the teacher will not except " I LVE GOD1!!!" As a answer.
Ok people Jesus is real he suffered and died for all of us. And all of you guys who do not go to church and don't wan't to go. Do what the guy did who wrote the first post did get that felling and join a good church and know the felling is not gas. Amen brothers and sisters AMEN!!!!!!!
i went to church ones. and the second i entered it i felt sick and in the end i threw up. should i take this as a sign?
and lol, i just love how religious people call others uneducated while they probably have no idea what their own religion is all about. i personally think that any christian who didnt read the old testament in HEBREW has no right to call anyone uneducated.
Jesus was a real person. Contempory Roman records verify a man named Jesus of Nazareth was crucified. This does not mean he was the son of God. On the other hand, since there were a lot of nutjobs making similar claims at the same time, he must have had some quality they didn't. Or maybe he just shouted louder.

there are 10.000's entries of robin hood and variations on robin hood in the UK archive of people that have been in prison. this means that robin hood has actually existed. but do your really think that the stories of robin hood are real? hell no, they have been made over time and piece by piece he became what he is now.
the same go's for this jesus fella of yours. sure he has existed sometime. but over the years the stories of him have completely bypassed the reality.

No there are no contemporary records. Putting aside Jesus for a second the first extrabiblical reference to the city of Nazareth comes from a citation made by a Christian history in the 3rd century. So not only do we not have any contemporary first hand counts of Jesus, the city he was in likely didn't even exist during the time he supposedly walked the Earth.
Oh and just to be clear there is evidence of a settlement in or near the area where Nazareth is dating back about 9000 years. A more recent discovery is claiming to have found a house with some clay pottery dating to about the the first century. Though the evidence only seems to indicate a small unimportant village at best.
Okay Just to make ONE THING CLEAR God did not need one person to die to forgive..... He needed a person that was P-E-R-F-E-C-T and no one else was so he was chosen, He needed to die so he could come back in a resurrected form..
He needed a person that was P-E-R-F-E-C-T and no one else was so he was chosen, He needed to die so he could come back in a resurrected form..
Uh, one question.
Why did anyone need to die at all, perfect or not? An all powerful God could have literally achieved what he wanted in an infinite number of non-bloody ways.

Well he first of all he took everyones sins in the garden of gethsemane but then the romans came and then killed him because they where haters and did not like Jesus.
Well he first of all he took everyones sins in the garden of gethsemane but then the romans came and then killed him because they where haters and did not like Jesus.
You completely dodged the question there...
An all powerful god could take everyone's sins away without a human sacrifice. The circumstances leading up to that human sacrifice have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that a human sacrifice was unnecessary and brutal.
Also, being a "hater" is not the answer as to why people don't believe in God.
An all powerful god could take everyone's sins away without a human sacrifice.
I think the point was that God was proving he loved us by sacrificing his son.
However, I think this should prove there is no God in the form Christians see him:
âIs God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?â
Epicurus â" Greek philosopher, BC 341-270
I think the point was that God was proving he loved us by sacrificing his son.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 That is the quote that explains what you just said.
And Kasic Have you ever been to church before and if you did have you read the bible page to page.
And if you did did you actually listen to the talks people gave?
And if you did read the Bible did you pray if those things are true?
