I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done.
I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please

Aside from incest, most animals, at least most vertebrates, wouldn't even have survived Noah's Ark. You need a certain base population for positive growth, and one couple would have meant extinction for many of them. A bottleneck situation as in the case of cheetahs and humans 'simply' means a decrease of genetic variance.

Also, during the whole Noah's ark thing. What did they do to the wood peckers for forty (something like that right?) days?

We don't know how Noah managed to keep or control all this animals in the ark, and we never will because we are not Noah. But the Bible never told us to understand this, it just told us to belive it.

if the harry potter books would tell the reader to believe in harry potter.
do you believe in harry potter then?

shouldn't you use your own mind instead of doing what a book tells you to do?

The Bible is not a fantasy, it is a story that gives you real events of what happened, is happening, and what is to come.

The Bible is not a fantasy, it is a story that gives you real events of what happened,

The Bible, bringing to mankind "real" events such as:

Dirt Man!
Rib Woman!
Talking Snakes!
Incestuous relationships from the start of mankind!
More water above the ocean than in it!
A boat with more space inside than volume would allow!
A burning bush!
Rivers of blood!
Splitting oceans!
Bears mauling children and more!

Sounds like a circus act to me.

We don't know how Noah managed to keep or control all this animals in the ark, and we never will because we are not Noah.

Or how they all fit on the ark, or where all the water got to, or how the ark could manage too survive these conditions, or how marine life survived the change of salinity, or how such a flood left no geological evidence, or how our genetic diversity would not allow for any fewer than a population of 10,000 people to exist yet we all came from 8 people, or how we got the genetic diversity of any of the other species on the planet for that matter, or how so many cultures only a few generations removed from this even just completely forgot about not only this happening but God as well, ...

But the Bible never told us to understand this, it just told us to belive it.

Worse yet it's asking this without providing evidence, which is despicable.

The Bible is not a fantasy,

"Fantasy is a genre of fiction that commonly uses magic and other supernatural phenomena as a primary element of plot, theme, or setting" -wiki

It doesn't appear to be distinguishable from fantasy.

Who exactly are you talking about with being uneducated?

And by that I mean there are hundreds of thousands of Christian Scientists!

Your point is...? Just because someone is a Christian and a scientist doesn't make unfounded claims any more valid. It's actually kind of sad, if the Christian scientist doesn't accept well established theories like evolution because of their beliefs (not saying that they all are like this). It just shows a bias, pure and simple, and casts any research they do into doubt because they are willing to compromise reality for the sake of unfounded beliefs.

Jesus Loves you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't spam.

I am Mormon and I know it

Thanks for letting us know you know what you think?

See people you guys haters.

Grammar no present me no understand well. Please, at least put a little thought into what you're saying.

God be with you till we meet agin. Amen!!

Again, what was the point of you posting this?

I don't mean to be condescending, truly. The fact of the matter is though, if you're just going to post things like "God loves you!" and "I'm a Christian!" please don't post. This is a debate thread and randomly declaring such things is spam at worst and annoying at best.

I was raised as a Christian. I was forced to go to church. The only thing I ever felt was boredom and incredulity. Any such "good feelings" like helping the community or fun events...those have nothing to do with God. You can get those same feelings without church.

1.) The person being uneducated is you

2.) We know that Christ is real because of historical records ALMOST EVERY FRIKIN RELIGION EVER MADE REVOLVES AROUND. Your the guy thats taking about biases and other stuff but in fact you don't even know the facts. Is that grammar good enough for.

3.) If you are so occupied with trying to prove everything christianity revolves around then maybe you should try reading the bible (a second grader might be able to help you with that ) and go to church trying to get something out of it.

Maybe that will do something for you

A great majority of scientist either are or end up as atheists. More than this science doesn't rely on belief. So what some scientist personally belief has nothing to do with their work in science, or at least it shouldn't as much as it's possible.

We know that Christ is real because of historical records

We have no historic records supporting any of the magical aspects of the Bible. We don't even have any records supporting many of the main characters of the Bible, even in a mundane sense.

ALMOST EVERY FRIKIN RELIGION EVER MADE REVOLVES AROUND.

No they're not. Christianity is part of the Abrahamic religions which stems from Judaism. These are Judaism, Christianity and Islam. There are many denominations within these three and they do make up some of the largest groups, but they aren't the source of nearly all religious beliefs.

maybe you should try reading the bible

I've read it cover to cover and plan to do so again in another version and have been slowly going over it in it's original language to getting a more accurate perspective of what it's saying.

Ok people Jesus is real

I find it rather questionable that such a person really existed. Outside the Bible we have forgeries, and ancient historians just saying that there are people who believe this (which then gets used as some sort of extra-biblical source for Jesus existing)
We really don't have anything to indicate he existed. We can however find fictional stories and other Biblical stories that the authors of the Gospels would have had access too that would appear to be sources used to create the story of Jesus.
