Yep. Read through it several times, and have discussed it with muslims. Done the same with the Bible and the Bhagavaghita. My reading of these books, and discussing them with leaders within their respective faiths are precisely why I do not buy any of it.
May I just venture a guess and say because you read as much from those people as from the books themselves?
Not so much that. More it was because the self styled 'leaders' of the faith really didn't have any more clue than I did. It showed me that it is all subjective and open to interpretation, and to me that does not indicate perfection. The inconsistencies, the outright errors, the divisiveness, these show me that religion is not of God, but of man, and it serves man's interests alone.
religion to me is fine, even understandable for the snese of community and shared belief and for its set of moral codes. but on the other hand organised religion complatrely baffles me since the catholic church is just a fashion not areligion, it changes so often makes new rules and abolishes old ones and yet all the whil claims that the bible and the word of the pope is infallible when they themselves arent foolow most of the bibles teachings and nearly every pope in history has made a doctrine contradicting another past pope
even the bible isnt the full story, there are countless contradictions in the bible but has anyone else heard of something called the apocrapha? they are thirteen books of the bible that arent in the bible because the church doesnt like them, and if im honest i dont know why the old testement is in the bible since its just the antics of a rampaging desert tribe that slaughter those that dont believe.
beforre someone says yes i have read the old testmement and some of it is horrific! lots daughters **** their father and thats apparently ok?! and theres one passage that says angels took all the beautiful women as brides and had children with them!?
i am by no means bashing religion although i am an athist myself, but what i am saying is that i am againsts the ridiculous notion that you need someone else to tell you where when and how to worship your god, because that just seems against the whole idea of religion
no thats a completely illogical interpretation of my point, its a moot point. i can understand why peopel would be religious for those reasons but for me personally i could list all day the reasons why i think religions is stupid, corrupt and even evil in extreme cases, i believe that religion is fine that doesnt mean im giving a liscenece for people to go off killing whoever they like

well actually i said it can be good, it can absolutely horrible and depraved and disgusting thing, but religion has inspired people to do great things, mother theresa and her charitable work in india, the work of cafod throughout the world and the amazing architecture and art that has been inspired by religion
again i repeat religion CAN be a good thing, i think organised religion seldom can be, i hope you understand that im not giving evryone a lisence to kill in the name of god(s)
qwerty! i dont get you you are trying to argue against peoples points by likening or attaching them to random things, drugs are obvioudly wrong (lets not egt into that please) just because they can give people a positive outlook doesnt mean that somehow religion si wrong because they do the smae thing
The big guy in the sky who gives you a mansion and ice cream when you ide if you are good seems like a much better option. Lets convert the whole world to that and then we will have none of the complications of the bible or Koran.
