People often complain about how their prayers always go unanswered, and I was just wondering what the AG community thought about this topic. I was also interested in where your opinions where on asking God for something.
So we're God's guinea pigs? That's sort of scary, actually. O.o I wonder if he'll make more perfect beings after he's done experimenting with us. Food for thought.
btw do you want me to go to hell? that means you do believe in heaven and hell
No, I don't. And even if it was true, if people like you went to heaven, burning for an eternity sounds preferable.
Besides, "hell's where all the good records are".
Actually, you arent using your ability correctly. You should at least follow a religion.
I'm not using my ability correctly by not believing in things that don't make sense and cannot be proven? By that logic, anyone who doesn't believe in Santa Claus and the easter bunny would be misusing their ability.
Nilo, I'm not saying this to be rude, but because it has to be said. I personally do not have anything against most religious people, but unfortunately, when you think of religious people, it's often the close-minded, arrogant, self-righteous jerks you think of, and those people give the rest of them a bad name. They're also one of the reasons why many atheists have such strong feelings against religion, and really, with an attitude like that, I'm guessing you don't earn a lot of friends among the believers either.
In case you didn't realize, you are one such person. You turned a discussion about religion into personal attacks.
Actually, God gave us the ability to think on our own to see what would happen. In a way, were kind of his test subjects. Of course he still loves us, we just need to love him back.
If God is omniscient then there is no information for him to gain from any test.
Okay, maybe I should have made myself more clear. Basically, God did make us his test subjects, but that was because he wanted to create something in his image. Of course he can think freely, so he made us able to do that too.
I'd say this is a terrible subjective question. But to answer, I'll just pull out my soul and ask it. Oh wait, I can't. Sometimes what I pray for happens, sometimes it doesn't. Does this mean that prayer does/does not work? No. What'd be interesting would be to take a large study that incorporates a control that doesn't pray, and those who do pray, however Christians would say God wouldn't lay down his help when the direct study is to prove/disprove his existence, in a sense.
And... God created the angels for company with him in his heaven, and some of those angels went evil, that's how you get devils. God was going to destroy them but left them for those who abused his free thinking power. After all, our ability to think is completely a privilege.

Still not covering why an omniscient being would run a test to begin with given such a being would have nothing to gain.

So we are just toys. Your god made us to toy with our lives. Mother ****ing monster.
Of course he still loves us, we just need to love him back.
Is that why humans were cast out of paradise on one occasion, everyone but one man and his family was drowned on another, and people are sent to hell for an eternity, just because we failed this test? That takes the phrase "tough love" to a whole new level.
People need to view my previous comment before making rash comments.
I have read all your comments. They all point to your god being a psychopathic toddler on LSD. Your god's love is conditional. My dog is more all loving than that monster.
