At least it's a break from the doom and gloom the news is always focusing on. It gets tiresome hearing of all the rapists, murders, thefts, idiots and retarted propositions all the time.

Breaking news in Boston that stopped normal programming was some guy in a electric wheel chair had the chair break down in an intersection. My point...often the news is pointless crap.

Yea I hear a lot about it, but not too much, mostly because I listen to 1st class news channels or local news.

I would like to know why in God's green Earth this is such a HUGE topic half the world away in the United States! I mean come on, any time I turn on the news, that's all I see is more crap about the royal wedding. With all due respect to my English brothers and sisters, I don't give half a crap about this. The monarchy doesn't even do anything anymore, and it's not news. This stupid wedding is getting on my nerves, seriously.

I was thinking about making a thread about this but not because its not news, because the wedding is 40 million USD. I see this as a huge waste of money because 1 million of it goes towards flowers and 70,000 for the wedding dress. Considering that the royalty don't make their own money this is all coming from tax payers money which can defiantly be used for a better cause such as charity. My only condolence is that 32 million will be used for security so thats not a total waste.

This royal wedding is making people think of other things than the current problems; it makes people buy a lot of things that have Kate's picture on it; I mean there's even a book and a film about the wedding and how they've met. It's economically and politically a very clever thing.

But I totally agree that they have been overdoing it a lot, I don't give a sh.. about it either and am glad as soon as everything's over (which will last some time I think)

I am really sick of all this Royal Wedding coverage on every single news channel that I watch - I've probably flicked through half of the world's assembled news programs in an attempt to escape from it. I don't want to hear about the stupid monarchy - I'd like to hear real news!

Seriously, WHO THE **** CARES ABOUT THIS ****!?
A nonrulling family member of a Constitutional Monarch is getting married.
We (Americans) aren't even under their rule and we are obsessed with it.
The English care about it less than we do.
Even this thread, which agrees with me, is too much publicity in my opinion.

Actually, looking at the figures, the royal family bring in a lot more money than they cost us - mostly in tourism and stuff.

But people don'tthink I'll go to Britain to see the royals. They think i'll go to britain and while I'm there i might go and see the royals. There are a lot better and cheaper things that can attract tourists and may be nice for British people too.
