I would like to know why in God's green Earth this is such a HUGE topic half the world away in the United States! I mean come on, any time I turn on the news, that's all I see is more crap about the royal wedding. With all due respect to my English brothers and sisters, I don't give half a crap about this. The monarchy doesn't even do anything anymore, and it's not news. Let's stop wasting our journalism and resources on some wedding and let's report what's going on in the middle east, or figure out why gas is so freaking expensive! This stupid wedding is getting on my nerves, seriously.

im not against it just the media coverage, but yeah maybe we should start trying to break them up and reunite them as often as possible so this happens more often!

Many Americans care too much (in my opinion) about what happened to Tom Cruise or what someone wore to an event.

Seeing as the Royal Wedding is not an official state event and the Royals can invite whoever they want, there were very few celebs at the wedding, so that theory doesn't hold up.

Nah, if you live in London like I do, you would realise how many Americans were there yesterday, how many news crews there were, and how many Americans you see as tourists around the Royal sites on normal days. They can't get enough of it.

I don't think the cost of the wedding really matters because from what I have read we have cashed in since the announcement of the wedding. I have heard that a total of 620 million pounds was added to the UK's economy and if the wedding cost us between 20 and 80 million I say it was worth it plus we got a 4 day weekend. Long live the fascination some people have with the royalty.

It actually does because movie stars aren't the only celebrities for Americans. If you read my whole post you saw that I mentioned people who have done absolutely nothing (Laguna, Real Housewives). This also applies to politicians. There was a lot of news about Obama's dog a while back. In America, this is seen as celebrity news. Just in case someone disagrees, pick up a People or Us magazine.

I believe you, but if you read my whole post you will see that the Royals invited whoever they wanted since it wasn't a state event. Most of the guests were simply friends of either the bride or groom. The only foreign dignitiaries were the ones who the royals are known to be friends with ie., the Spanish royals.

I read it. I am not just saying celebrities from the USA. I am saying that the Royals are considered celebrities. They have been on the covers of these magazines multiple times since the engagement announcement.

They are celebrities, but they are on another level for you Yanks. I mean, you even decided to make a terrible film about them.

Reemember when they went to New York a couple of years back, how many US celebs and news crews turned up?

In short, I stand by my assertion that Americans are British Royalty obsessed, since they have no royalty or history of their own.

Apparently 3 billion people watched it live.

I mean, congrats to Will and Kate but I mean literally. 3 billion? That is going a little overboard.

Fixed that for you. Need a qualifier of some type. Otherwise you look like an ignoramus, and I know that's not your intention.

since they have no royalty or history of their own.
Correlation does not imply causation. Also, your use of hyperbole, combined with the word obsessed makes you sound almost a little bitter, like you're trying to put some spin on what should be straight-faced ignorant generalizations.

I'm just speaking a language Americans would understand.

Correlation does not imply causation.

It's always easy to tell when Americans like something.

Terrible film made about it. Check.
News crews coming over and pretending they care about a smaller country. Check.

I think we are just shy of a military invasion.

Also, your use of hyperbole, combined with the word obsessed makes you sound almost a little bitter, like you're trying to put some spin on what should be straight-faced ignorant generalizations.

I'm glad you could tell. However you've misdiagnosed bitterness for a snobby British superiority complex.

No! That's the opposite of helping. Now you sound even more like a biased fool. If you want people to believe your extreme and ill-informed opinions, you have to appear somewhat aloof and neutral.

It's always easy to tell when Americans like something.
I was targeting your reasoning. I questioned that Americans liked British royalty because we lacked history. Which is also not true, of course, but you know that.

However you've misdiagnosed bitterness for a snobby British superiority complex.
I never said you were bitter.
