I would like to know why in God's green Earth this is such a HUGE topic half the world away in the United States! I mean come on, any time I turn on the news, that's all I see is more crap about the royal wedding. With all due respect to my English brothers and sisters, I don't give half a crap about this. The monarchy doesn't even do anything anymore, and it's not news. Let's stop wasting our journalism and resources on some wedding and let's report what's going on in the middle east, or figure out why gas is so freaking expensive! This stupid wedding is getting on my nerves, seriously.

I think we should just get rid of the monarchy. We get nothing and we spend loads of taxpayers money on them

I live in America so i don't know anything about the royalty but from what I've gathered they are just figure heads and don't really do anything political. So people just keep giving them money for no reason.

They might not be important but they do play a key role in government even in Canada we have to have some random stuff signed off by them before it can proceed through it's development. Completely unnecessary but important nerveless.

The coverage is ridiculous they are just normal people but with the added benefit have having nothing to contribute or any skills to speak of. At least celebrities did or do something. It's Completely baffling why they even exist and why people take it. Common wealth nations also payed for that wedding, they might deny it by saying they are paying for it. But where are they getting the money from.

It's pointless.
Might be #1 watched event of the year.
And the security ppl that are there are because it's such a grand wedding in the area. Its kind of lame, the royal family, but I'm not British so I don't really care.
I'd just like it to happen and end. I like lame news about electric wheelchair failures over a happy fun wedding of two people I have absolutely nothing to do with. I don't care if it could possibly make anyone happy or look away from all of the gloomy news out there -- the point of news is to prove that the world sucks. It's stuff worth knowing to have a better understanding of one's outside environment. Not to hear about someone's wedding vows or what color the cake will be. Seriously wtf.

I'm British...and I seriously couldn't care less about the royal wedding, I really don't see the big deal about it, nor do I see a real point of the royal family anymore.
The Plus side to this, bank holiday, extra day off from work, which means it is a good day to play some mass effect.

I was listening to it on the radio this morning and they kept pointing out the same facts such as "she's waving", "she's smiling", "he is dressed nicely" and i was just thing "O RLLY?!"

But they did make an actually good point, this wedding probably has attracted a lot of tourist which will pay for the wedding and more.

The media needs to sensationalize something else to make money. In all honesty I don't care about who gets married in another country.

There is nothing else to talk about for them. The media thinks Japan is to old to talk about and the middle east has been talked about for long enough.

I saw it on TV. The ceremony in Westminster Church was so.. dry, moralizing and almost middleage-like. Nothing compared to the wedding of princess Victoria from Sweden. They both brabbled their words very quietly and all was over relatively fast. I really expected more epicness for such an anticipated/media-inflated wedding^^

It's the odd thing about you Americans. You tend not to care about anything that happens outside your borders, hence why your news shows nothing but domestic affairs. However when it comes to our Royals, you really are very star struck. I put it down to a nation which loves history, but lacks its own.

I think it's more an infatuation with "celebrity" news. Look at all the reality stars that become famous simply because they get on TV (Laguna Beach, Real Housewives of (fill in blank), etc). Many Americans care too much (in my opinion) about what happened to Tom Cruise or what someone wore to an event.

i find it slightly patronising how american people on here assume evrryone in britain is going mad about it when your news is covering it more than ours is, and your making a film about it, i can safely say 90% of brits under thirty care so little they dont even get annoyed by the news about it, for me i get two days off so its basically agood thing

all the best to them but to everyone here there just two random strangers nothing more

I see no point in the importance of this wedding, let alone the usefulness of the accursed royals. They don't do anything about anything.

not true prince charles uses his connections to interfere with planning permission in london so its suits his warped idea of architecture

We get another 4 day weekend and now I will probably not hear much more about it and still have 3 more days of no school. I call this a pretty good idea actually. I think it shows how much some British people hate it that they are against it despite getting an extra day off work/school
