I personally think zombies have been overused in many video games. Here is a list of a few games that use them. 1. Left For Dead (1 and 2) 2. Black Ops 3. Plants vs. Zombies 4. Wolfenstien (I dont remember which one but there is) 5. Doom (Very old game) 6. Resident Evil (all of them) 7. The House of the Dead 8. Dead Rising 9. Call of Duty World at War: Zombies 10. Dead Space (1 and 2) Those are just 10 of the hundreds made. What do you think of this? Should new enemies be made or should zombies be improved to the point they can add a greater challenge by wielding weapons instead of overrunning you?
well u really cant "overuse" something if they just appear in different games like that. Thats just a theme that the game follows. I think that zombies wud be considered overused if trey arc put a zombie mode in all of their CoD games from here on out. Because in my opinion, zombies is the only thing that they did right and they are still putting them on to sell games. Back to the subject, zombies are not being overused because different companies are using them for different games. Also, even if they are being overused, they are selling well, so why not keep putting them in games? I'm sure people that like the zombie mode on CoD or like zombie games in general wouldnt mind to see them being overused, so its not really a bad thing.
Zombies are turning into a classic type of game play. I feel that it will continue to be a favorite in games such as CoD. As for Resident Evil themed games...isint that what the game is all about? that is why people play the game is to see the different imaginations of people when it comes to the concept of zombies...
I never really liked zombies to begin with. The idea is dumb and unoriginal. When I play a game, I expect it to be original. Granted, I wouldn't even play a zombie-related game; nonetheless, the idea is old and game creators should find something new.
The thing is that zombies are not played up as much of a character for stories as they are used as an excuse for a certain game mechanic most of the time. The thing is we could argue that soldiers are overused in video games, or that aliens are overused(there are just as many games with aliens in them as zombies if not more), but the fact of the matter is that they are so popular because it's fun to shoot hordes of idiot AI who just run up to you in droves. I think that with Dead Space they added a new twist to how a zombie game can be played which actually made it feel like you had to watch out around every corner or get killed because you were careless, and this type of innovative thinking is what most people ask for today. The thing is though that so long as games like the Call of Duty series are the best selling games out there, it's unlikely that were going to see much else besides modern day shooters, unless someone can come up with something even more popular that everyone else will try to rip-off of as well. Granted you guys complain about game developers needing to come up with new ideas, but honestly I think most venues have already been used by this point outside of casual gaming(because the indie developers are always able to come up with more games in that market). Even when people online suggest their "amazing new video game idea", most of these ideas already exist in some aspect, or are not very good ideas to begin with. If you want innovation in gaming then I suppose the most you can really do is either wait and stop promoting games that are definitely not innovative(such as one very popular game series that has used the same engine for the last 5 games including the next in it's series) and maybe if you ever become a true game designed maybe come up with some innovative game yourself. Zombies may be overused, but there is a good reason for it.
Yes, zombies are overused, but, hey, those companies are always looking for ways to make money so they take an idea that the audience likes (Like zombies) and they squeeze the life out of it until no one can stand to hear the word "zombie" anymore
