Maybe yes, or maybe the "traditional" concept of morality is evolving.

I'd say that our morals are changing rather than being lost - we're a lot more open these days and the boundaries for acceptable social norms and values have widened significantly over the last 100 years or so.

I find a lack of morals in many places. People will give up what they think is right for popularity. That seems to be the case most of the time anyway. People don't care if it is the right thing to do or not. As long as they are recognized for it in some way and it will positively contribute to their image they don't care. I've have seen it in my school (students and teachers), at my mom and dad's work place, on the streets, in the mall, in restaurants and so many other places.

As for social norms they are broadening but morals should not be lost just because of this and they are.

I feel liked we are losing a bit of our morals in some places and i agree with you keyara that people will exchange their morals for popularity or to be in the "different", "rebellious" or "modern" crowd. actually what you said reminds me of an episode of family guy where brian changes political races and at the end was because the president was democratic he wanted to be be in the rebellious or the lesser crowd.

I remember that episode. It illustrates that point quite well.

Yes it does and Homosexuality is a example as well i dont have a problem with them thats the type of decision they make then they can do that but, im seeing on television a lot that people say that "well, being gay its really in these days so why dont i try it" thats what people actually says. So, how does this make the gay community look it makes them look like the only reason their gay is for popularity and attention and for some is not true obviously

I totally agree with Avorne, morals are changing instead of being lost. Every time and place has it's own morals. Anyway morals are subjective, so I don't see how one could make an objective statement about them.

But if you go for rather traditional morals, well, they may be lacking a bit in some places today, but if you compare for example to the decadent nobility like in France under Louis XIV, to state an example,I don't think it went down in general. It rather varies a lot over time and social groups.

Well, what about moral in jobs and government not only moral but, what about ethics?!

I think the morales are being lost, empathy for others is discarded in favor of holding to a political or religious ideal.

Oh really? We are doing this far less so than people in the past. It would be difficult to say that a country could genocide people now a days, as they had in the past. Crime rates are going down. We are getting less religious. I can only see morals improving.

Well, what about moral in jobs and government not only moral but, what about ethics?!

Also improving. A few thousand years ago, there was no such thing as ethics. Now, in many places, you at least lose a ton of business if you work "unethically" and are exposed as doing so.

Yes, take a look at congress. Many longtime congressmen are saying that the civility is gone. People rather have the government shut down then yield an ideological point.

People who have been in anything a while say that it was better in the old times, just look at anything. Even Armor Games, the old timers still say "It was better back in 09", even if it wasn't. Any game they will always say "It was batter back then". This works out for real life to, "It was better back then" they say.

And so what? A few hundred years ago and we would be at war against each other for the same thing. We are improving greatly, and will continue to do so.

The house speaker is willing to drop $500k of taxpayer money to enforce DOMA, despite claiming to "Cut the pork and wasteful spending" of congress.

I don't remember claiming politicians where intelligent or logical, just that morals are improving. For example, take yourself. In arias where homosexuality was not common place (Such as good old ancient Greece, where it was socially acceptable) , you would be stoned, lynched, thrown into a Nazi fire, or other wise killed. It isn't a big improvement, but it is a steady one.

No. Morals are changing which means different things are moral

Just try and look back at our History. There was never such a thing as an abundance of morality. Only ignorance and naivety between the masses and a constant hunger for power for those who had power in their hands.

We humans will never change.

Everyone is moral. They just have different morals. And if you break them then it would be because of special circumstances in which case it was justified.

I'd also like to point out that morality is subjective and so you can't really say that there's a decline or lack of morality in society today - only that there's a decline in the actions or behaviours that you perceive as being moral. Things like morals and ethics aren't 'fixed' things - they change and become different as society evolves.

If you want my humble opinion on this... this has always been the case, we just do a bigger fuss about it today, now that we are more open to the world and collide with more different political views and religions, and also talk more about it. But it really didn't change that much..
