For the first time in US history health care is a right, not a privilege for the rich and healthy. People in Vermont will no longer be denied insurance based on income, pre-existing condition, age, gender, or any other factor. Everyone will have equal access to healthcare. 1 state has reformed. 49 to go.
John OâKane, government relations director at IBM, was one of the early critics of the health reform legislation.
Big Business: Because we wants what's best for us whether or not it's best for you. Oh, by the way, we also spend billions of dollars to undermine your democratic process but you still love us!
I'm glad to see states taking steps to insure a complete healthcare system for all its residents.

Woo, now people who don't want health care, don't need health care, or don't support the health care system will be forced to pay money that they worked for. The wealthy find yet another way to take people's money, but this time it's through force! Good job.
Oh, and FYI, health care is not a right. Rights are optional.
W00t! Party! This is a great step for America's socialism. You see America? Socialism doesn't hurt.
Says the kid who doesn't pay taxes.
If I don't like regular health care, why should I support national health care? It's the same thing except I can't be denied, but I hated health care not because I could be denied, but because I didn't like paying for it. At least I had the choice to NOT pay.
If national health care is so awesome, why must people be forced to pay? Why not include only the people who want national health care?

That's how the community rolls. If you don't want to live, help and get benefits from a society, then you can always live in some deserted island or something.

I don't understand this statement. Who are the wealthy and how do they take the people's money? If your talking about the government, then it's true that the system is not 100% perfect. If the government did cuts there and there, on useless stuff or on overpaid politicians, then the US could possibly get a healthcare with even paying much more taxes.
Very true. I am the ignorant kid that does not live in the "big people" world. But, I will eventually pay taxes. And I will not complain. My parents pay taxes and they hardly complain. Of course my parents don't complain, my brother gets all his asthma medicine free. Medicine that would cost hundreds or even thousands a year.

Again, if you refuse to help the community, then you should leave the community. Society can't Move on if no one does anything to society.

Instead of complaining about the healthcare try to be productive, like finding a way to get healthcare with little to no increase in taxes. You probably think thats impossible, but its not. All you need to do is get the cost of American healthcare down to the levels of the rest of the first world countries.

If you are a selfish person, then !!SOCIETY!! should handle the selfish person, not the government. If someone wants to be selfish and hoard their money, it's their money! If you don't like it, don't buy their product. If you don't like it, write about it. If you don't like it, protest.
Society doesn't need mama government to hold our hand. Government is anti social. You can either band together with your fellow brothers and sisters to stand up to what you feel is unjust. Why do you insist we call our government and have them do it for us so we don't have to get out of bed in the morning? That is anti-social.
I believe in a bottom-up system, not a top-down system. I believe we, the people, should help each other out and speak out against what we do not support rather than force people to "help" through government coercion and make laws to end the need of speaking out.
We should be, as a community, responsible for each other while allowing each other the freedom to live life how they want to. We don't need to force everyone to live the same way for us to coexist.
As an atheist, I refuse to worship government and it is insulting when people try to force government down our throats.
That was interesting to say the least. While allowing people to pick what part of a plan they want would help many, the problem still exists. The problem I didn't see addressed was that something like a catscan costs 6 times as much in America as it does in Japan, and with a little looking you find dozens of similar bits of information. Insurance is expensive because the procedures are expensive, the procedures are expensive because doctors and health care companies can charge what they want for services that people NEED. These aren't optional, yet they are treated as such.

Oh right, because that always worked before.

The government never created the people or society. It's society/the people that created the government to put some order. Of course non-abusive. Not many people will help each other out. If the government is doing a bad job, then change it.
We don't need to force everyone to live the same way for us to coexist.
You are not forced to. You can always leave a place you don't like.

There's a difference between moving out of a state and our of the country.
Most people couldn't afford to move out of the country.
Regardless, the idea that I can move isn't a valid argument because you're assuming it is naturally right to support universal health care and that anyone who disagrees doesn't belong.
I didn't support the Iraq war yet I still had to pay for it. If you where allowed to just pay for what you liked the country would fall apart. Once a decision has been made in a democratic way every citizen should help support it.
