I ask this because a lot of these forums are of why people believe there is a God but, what about those out there who don't believe in a God? Why don't you think there is a God at all?

Umm. There's a bit too much I'd have to say if I went into depth (I don't speak for everyone, only me ).

Simply put, it's not proven, it has contradicted itself and is on shaky grounds.

That, and I found the morals behind it wrong ANYWAY

Personally I have no clue if there is any supreme creator being. I just believe that none of the religions in the earth is right, because:
- most of them are extremely contradictory
- there have been thousands of religions on earth. It sounds quite unlikely that they are all wrong except one.
(this is just my own idea, I'm not trying to explain the views of every atheist)

he means that if you read there holy books or listen to the teachings of their minsiters many of them will tell you two opposite things, like the bible may say, never go to bed before 8 and then another bit of the bible may say never sleepbefore eight

this is amad example but ist the best i can think of right now (its not real btw) but thats the kind of contarddiction he is talking about

personally i believe that there amy or may not be ahigher being, given the evidence i have beeen presented with for various religions i see no reason to believe there is a god although for me i would just feel hypocritical if i out and out said that there is no god, oh and i think religion when organised is one of the greatest evils known to man

I understand the meaning if contradiction. What i am asking is an example and explanation.

Google is your friend.

Anyway, the reason why I believe there is no God is because there's absolutely no logical reason for me to believe there is a God.

Why isn't it logical?

How is it logical?

log·i·cal/Adjective
1. Of or according to the rules of logic or formal argument: "a logical impossibility".
2. Characterized by clear, sound reasoning.

log·ic/Noun
1. Reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity: "experience is a better guide to this than deductive logic".
2. A particular system or codification of the principles of proof and inference: "Aristotelian logic".

Believing in an all-powerful being who's been around for ever without any evidence whatsoever is not logical reasoning. I'm not saying people shouldn't believe, it's up to them, but faith is not logical. Sort of why it's called faith.

As our knowledge of how things work becomes ever-clearer it is increasingly easy to see that any sort of deity would only be an unnecessary and extraneous element in an already complete system.

Well, one might be able to bring up the point that earth being placed in the right distance away from the sun not to far where we freeze to death not too close where we burn to death. Another, that the world has a specific systems to survive not being a coincidence that somebody out there created us in the perfect way.

There are millions, maybe even billions, of other planets out there - it's only inevitable that one of them would be in the viable temperature/distance zone.

There's an insane amount of planets out there. It's not that unlikely that one of them ended up suitable for life. And it's not like it's a coincidence that the planet we're on is one of the few suitable for life, we're here because it was. Besides, lifeforms sort of adapt to the climate, so it's not that the world was created to be perfect for us as much as that life evolved to suit this world.

I only think that there was/is a god for one reason, and that reason is, he hasn't been thoroughly disproven yet. I don't think that an "all powerful being" meddles in day to day affairs, and I don't think I should have to worship him if he did. I simply think that there is something out there that helped form and shape this planet.

Over many many many years of course. Just not as long as 7 million or as short as 6,000.

The notion of there being a god is neither proven nor disproven as of yet. However, I think it very unlikely that there is one. If there is one, it certainly does not involve itself in our affairs through supernatural actions, and obviously does not love everyone/forgive everyone as the more popular religions teach, shown through their own holy books and worldy actions that we can see.
