I'm sure you've all heard the doom sayers stating that the world will end on Saturday May 21 2011. What is the basis behind this belief that the world will end on this day, what sets this apart from all the other doomsday theories, and where do you stand on this forecast of oblivion.

Great, the world is "supposed" to end on my birthday. Those guys are complete idiots. Can't they just man up and say they are wrong instead of postponing the dates and inventing "truths" out of thinair? Some peoplenever learn.

Only idiots make these stupid doomsday dates. Every time they are wrong, they postpone it. They are simply too idiotic to do anything else.

Total Agree.

-----------------------------

The same guy who said that the world will end on 21 May 2011, also said that the world will end in 1994 in the past. It didn't end, he said that he made a "mistake".

I know a solution to that mistake you 'Prediction Man', take the gun and blow your brains, that might refresh your dreams and predictions a bit.

Some current affairs program here devoted two programs to Harold Camping (how come no one mentioned his name?) and his crazed theory. The reason that was so is because he predicted that the end will start with a massive series of earthquakes striking New Zealand in roughly eight hours from now. He sounds like a nutter. Undoubtedly, once this fails he'll make up an excuse for it. His &quotredictions" are derived from some wacky numerological interpretation of the Bible.

His website.

What scares me most isn't that he's right (because he's not), its that he is giving Christians a bad rap. You have nut jobs in every body, in every organized group, in every religion. People are too quick to assume that the crazy, negative, or damaging actions of a small few represent the majority in all cases. You need to look at the group as a whole before you make a descision about them.

They already have a bad rap without the crazies.

Eh... not trying to be intentionally offensive here, but I would contend that anyone who follows any organized religion is a nutjob by default. In order to actually accept the basic premises of these faiths one must abandon logic, reason, evidence, and everything else we use to discern fact from fantasy. In psychology we call ideas like this delusions, and people are often medicated and/or admitted to care facilities for suffering delusions.

The sad thing is, I can't tell whether you're being sarcastic or not. I am leaning towards the sarcasm yes, and it would make more sense...but you never know..

I don't see what makes this guy any different in terms of belief then any other theist.

Seeing as most major world religions proclaim mystery to this crazy event, I think this is a load of bull and is less religious than people make it to be so. It's just stupid ideas making stupid rumors because the end of the world sounds 'cool'. Which it does, I'd love to read a history book in heaven or something about how the world ended. But, predicting it is not only non-religious, but stupid, superstitious, and also kinda depressing.

From the article:
PS: And if I'm wrong I won't be here to have to explain my mistake, so it's all good either way

Lmao what a boss. And sorry for the spam. Just had to point it out.

I found this LOL about doomsday dates.

http://verydemotivational.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/demotivational-posters-its-not-over-yet-kids.jpg

But on a serious note, this guy is using Biblical claims to determine this date is the date of doomsday. But...

32 âBut about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. 34 Itâs like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

~Mark 13: 32-34

Basically saying, no one knows when the rapture will happen. And, as Commander and Armed Blade were saying, this guy claimed the rapture would happen in 1994. So, its all a hoax. Again.

All I know is that the Velocirapture may indeed occur on this day, May 21, 2011. Should that occur I shall not be here, for Raptor Jesus shall have devoured my liver in order to save me from the Flamingo. May the Almighty Platypus guide and watch over you all.

Hey! that reminds me:
