I'm sure you've all heard the doom sayers stating that the world will end on Saturday May 21 2011. What is the basis behind this belief that the world will end on this day, what sets this apart from all the other doomsday theories, and where do you stand on this forecast of oblivion.
Interesting you should put that passage waluigi, because if taken to be true then it also means that Jesus is not God and thus not divine, which kind of throws a wrench in the whole Christianity thing. Just wanted to throw that out there, further discussion (for any side and from anyone) can go on my profile if you wish so we don't fill this thread up with OT chat.
It looks like there has been an end of the world prediction almost every year for the past 200 years.
~Mark 13: 32-34
The first video I posted covers this issue as this can pose a problem for orthodox beliefs, believing Jesus is God. Now one of the qualities of God is omniscience, but here we have Jesus showing ignorance. However if Jesus had both God divinity and his human nature in-tacked the lack of omniscience shouldn't be possible.
Oh yeah and on the idea of how we can tell a false prophet from a real one. Something one Christian in said video pointed out "Even Jesus has to pass the false prophet test", which is.
Deuteronomy 18:20-22 (NIV) But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death. You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?" If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
So how does Jesus stand up to this test? Well he fails.
Mark 13:29-30 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
There are a lot of apologetic and mental gymnastic trying to get around this, but we see such a double standard with Harold's prophecy.
On a side note you might also notice we are to put false prophets to death?
Hey guys! I'm typing this from heaven! Just to warn you, the internet is really slow here. Oh, and Jesus like vodka, on the rocks (Just in case you wanna impress him)
OH MY GOD, the rapture didn't happen, now what am I supposed to do I sold all my stuff cause I thought it was the end of the world, oh wait no I didn't cause I'm not an idiot.
Wouldn't it be funny if there WAS a coincidental earthquake somewhere? I mean given the whole world, it's not entirely impossible for there to not be an earthquake somewhere today.

Many happen per day. Not just tiny ones, but major ones, like 7.0 strength ones. They usually happen near mid-ocean ridges away from the land so it doesn't really affect anything.
