This is the second installment of the Questions From an X Jew. I want to know that if Christians are monotheistic, and they believe in God, then how can they believe in Jesus being the Son of God. If that were true, than they would either be worshipping two gods or one and a half gods. Please understand that I am not trying to offend anyone. It is just that this question has been nagging me for a while and I wanted to see what the Christians on AG have to say. Thanks!
it sounds a lot less like religion and a lot more like an ongoing philosophy of fairytales.
Thats why i quit the faith because it has basically no foundation of proof, and my teachers are always like ' thats because you dont have enough faith, blah blah blah'
As a theology major, i'll just make this more complicated. Although yes, Christians believe in the Trinity that is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - There are so many other factors to consider. Not all Christians simply believe there are three components that make up the Trinity. It's all about how the Trinity is Jesus and God, and the Spirit.
I think this website gives a good outline: http://www.religionfacts.com/christianity/charts/denominations_beliefs.htm

Fact of the matter is, there's so many religions that all claim the same source of evidence and have miracles that they use for these claims, it's so absurd to think one would be true over another, not even to mention that it's rare you'll even find a large group of people in a religion that agree on most of the points of that religion.
Sorry, I don't want to give a lecture or upset some people, but it might help someone in something.
God or the Father, created the earth and us all. He also was the Father of Jesus, hence Son of God. About 2000 years ago this started when Jesus was born, God decided that we should have eternal life once again. Eternal life means you will live forever, praising god in heaven. To get to heaven you would ask (pray) Jesus into your heart, and let him lead your life. Such people who did this were David Livingstone, Terry Virgo[/url and other famous pastors, ministers and believers. Just recently [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Camping]Harold Camping made a prediction that the world was going to end and all Christians were going to be raptured, that is only one way to heaven, I can't help but inserting a bible verse
John 14:6 Jesus answered, âI am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
which is giving the impression of earlier that you have to have Jesus in your heart to get to heaven. The other way of getting to heaven is just dieing, it doesn't sound great but it will be worth it.
Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost is always there, it helps to heal people when there sick. When people are baptised the holy spirit comes apon them, just as it did to the disciples(Jesus' folowers) in the bible.
^^If the holy spirit "heals" people how come all christians are healed. Why are a few hundred cases possible miracles? And so people like Ghandi who weren't christian are in hell. And how come if ou feel jesus muslims feel allah and jews feel their god. Isn't the most likely scenario that it was all made up.

Thanks for the whole personal testimony...but you didn't give one thing of proof, you just regurgitated your beliefs, and I think most people here already know them.
Maybe I should just stick to Judaism. Much less confusing.
Religion is lazy <3

That's religion, often the case is that you cannot see or understand God's scope of power, or the love he has for us all, and all you need do is commit yourself to our lord Christ.
... Gah, **** religion.
I am a Christian and I go to a Baptist Chrurch

Guys, come on. This thread is not about proving religions, disproving them, and whatever. I simply asked a question, and I have received many confusing answers. Thank you all so far for my headache. Just keep it respectful. Thanks.
I think I can give you a less confusing answer. Jesus was created by God as a seperate entity (like the angels). God sent him to earth in a human form. According to the bible, Jesus never claimed to be God. For example when the appostles asked when the end would come, he stated (I'm paraphrasing) "Only the Father knows." Many wanted Jesus to be worshiped as God or to be made a king. He told them not to worship him but to worship only the Father. Those who believe that God and Jesus should both be worshiped are indeed polytheists. You were correct about that. I was confused too so I read the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (which is not the New Testament) because it was about as close a translation to the original Greek and Sanskrit texts as you can get (some contain the original text for comparison to the translation). Anyway, I hope this helps!
