I love the weather and have always been interested in it. To me, the creation of incredible storms and the patterns of heat, wind, fronts, and pressure systems in absolutely incredible, especially since many of these things still baffle humans!
I want to know: does anybody share my interest? Any other weather buffs out there? Or, some interesting story or fact about the weather?
Craziest thunderstorm, I guess, was when we were at holidays in a village at the bottom of a small valley, and the storm wasn't right above us so we could look at it from outside of the house. It was already night, and the sky above the mountains would frequently be lit by lightning, and the thunder would roll through the valley. Quite impressive^^
There are 2 that I remember the most. Both were at my baseball games.
First - The games were delayed because of lighting and reports of hail nearby (like 2 cities away). It wasn't raining so I sat on top of the car with my legs in the car (sun roof). I remember seeing this swirling cloud in the air. No funnel but I saw it spinning, I kept saying something but no one cared. They then canceled the game. I still see the spinning whenever I think of tornadoes. The funny thing there wasn't a tornado watch or warning for it.
Second - At a baseball game again. We see a huge, I guess you would call it a wall cloud. My dad checks his phone and we have a severe thunderstorm warning. He says to pack up (our team was up to bat). I keep my glove and hat with me. We go onto the field, I play right field and thats where my car is. The cloud was really close but the game wasn't called off. My hat blows off my head and then the game is called and we sit watching the news when we get home. No tornado watch or warning. Those are the craziest thunder storms ever I've ever seen.
In a matter of fact it's about to storm here again. Does look that bad on the radar.
The weather where I live is ridiculously temperamental.
This actually happened a week ago: We were pulling into a parking lot at a restaurant. The sky was blue with some white clouds that were big and puffy. Then it started drizzling. Then it started raining. Then it started pouring. Then....it started hailing. All within the space of five minutes.
Just last night, there were more storms here... In fact, for a while, it appeared that a group of tornadic storms were heading right for us, but then they changed path, and we just got heavy rain. Right when the first round finished, another developed behind it and it rained from about 11pm to 7am.
One time, it started thunder storming, and I climbed a tree. Everyone was like, get down! And I was like, it's my life, I can do whatever the hell I want with it! Just then I got electrocuted. Fingers were kinda chared, teeth cracked. Hair... Missing. The fire men said, why would u do that? I said, zzzazzzazzzzzazzz. Couldn't talk cuz I got fried
this year toward the end of the school year, my track buddies and i all went surfing after school. The skies were clear of all but a few small harmless clouds. After about 30 minutes of surfing the life guard called us back to the beach. We were all mad because we didn't know why we were being called back. Within 5 minutes of us getting out of the water a huge storm hit with wind speeds clocked at 60-70 mph. there was more lightning than i have ever seen in my life. Of course the one time i go surfing after school all year there is a tropical depression practically on top of me -_-
It just finished raining really hard here in Northeast WI. It sounded like a MONSOON for 20 minutes! We haven't got much rain recently so I guess it's good.
It was pretty sticky all day long, beautiful weather in the morning; when I was on the train back home though, there was a strong wind, and right above our heads there's a big dark cloud mass passing. There was a great atmosphere, like "something's gonna happen". I LOVE it now it has rained heavily for a small time though, and there's no wind anymore. Wonder if there'll be a thunderstorm or if we missed it...
I saw those storms on the radar yesterday! I'm always checking it while storms are afoot. :P
@CalvinKidd137
I've heard about the severe drought that is plaguing the South and desert Southwest. That must be awful. I hope the weather changes its mind and decides to act in your favor soon!
@HahiHa
I love those! Whenever severe storms come, I step out on my front porch (faces west, at the storms) and get a good, long look. I often begin texting numerous friends about the storm. :P
But for now the weather is calm... A cold front passed yesterday, so it's cool and cloudy today. Sigh... So boring...
