Wow, this topic has quickly changed from a good one to just straight up bashing, probably because most of us who had opinions already stated them.
Lets start another conversation on the topic, then. What do you think of marriages and/vs legal ceremonies (named a myriad of things)? I'll pop back in with my answer later ;o)

Ninja Cube, Tell me why? Why do you prefer to be straight? You know that males and females are attracted to each other because of the need to reproduce, right? Well Homosexuals brains are wired so that they are attracted to their own gender. Either that or they see someone they really like, and end up loving them.
Is it bad to be a homosexual? Nope. It's just as bad to be a Christian, or a scientist. How people feel and what they do should not disturb you, unless they are crazy. Are you calling the spartans stupid?
As hojoko hinted at, the term homosexual is a fairly recent one. But the big different between having a "student" or "companion" and actually being a homosexual is that in the former, you still have a wife and make babies. Which brings up a fairly standard argument against homosexuality that I haven't seen brought up (of course, there are 86 pages of this, sooo....) Anyway, the argument is that homosexuality is wrong because it does not advance civilization. If everyone followed the maxim of homosexuality, then we would not have children and humanity would wither away. Is this argument valid? Cogent?
Moe, I do not think it is completely valid... I have heard that in some species, certain requirements must happen in order for mating to be successful. For example, a certain type of fly (I forget which) aggregates in swarms to attract females. If the swarm is not large enough, females will not join, and mating will not occur.
This goes back to, with some species, homosexual conditions can improve the reproductive success. With some animals, practicing homosexuality actually increases their reproductive success when they actually do mate with the opposite sex.
So I would not say that homosexuality does not help advance things. Because with some animals, yes, it does.
Moe, you are starting to sound like Kant when you present maxims.
On point, if you look at it in the extreme if EVERYONE followed the maxim then there would be no reproduction at all. So, the argument stands valid as itself (the way I see it). The only problem is, it isn't cogent. It doesn't stand because when compared to the reality of homosexuality and that argument is it isn't that extreme. There are women (including myself and my partner) who are willing to become pregnant to have our children. For the purpose of reproducing, it would be done.
in my opinion gays are disgusting. the society we live in today is corrupting and demasculinizing men and it makes me sick. although i am Christian and it is a sin... i still personally feel a certain amount of hate towards gays and the society that has corrupted the men straight men they should be. For us Christians instead of rejecting them and attacking them, we should reach out to them and try to change the way they think and bring them to Christ.
