Should marijuana be legal in all 50 states for medical use? For example people with crones disease have a horrific pain and the use of marijuana helps ease the pain.

I think it should for medical purposes! It really helps people who struggle with illnesses.

It'll end up like alcohol in the 20s:

Patient: I'm not feeling so well doc (wink, wink).
Doctor: Well I will give you a perscription for something to calm your nerves (wink, nod)
*Hands patient a bottle of whiskey and a perscription paper
Patient: Thanks!
Doctor: Get well soon!

I think that it should be legal (not only for medical use). It's less harming than alcohol.

For medicinal purposes, yes, if it's not corrupted with bribes to doctors. Medical weed does pose the problem of an increase in drug dealing.

@Grimml, although less dangerous chemical wise, not entirely true.
It depends on the person. One might be fine having a pint and driving but total his car, kill a few people with a spliff.
There's a lot of risk factor.

Marijuana isnt dangerous on its own... driving impaired is dangerous, sure. I fail to see why it's illegal honestly...

While I am mostly anti-drug/alcohol, I have personally witnessed a guy in school, many years ago, who smoked and yet was an excellent student and all around decent guy.

That said, that could be an isolated incident, as not everyone possesses the same self control he did.

Though I have no scientific data to back this up, in terms of adolescents at school, I'm very sure it's an isolated incident. It's really easy to point out/find the smokers at my school.

Most people who "lose controll" while high simply slough around more. Marijuana doesn't make anyone violent.

This is fear mongering. Although it is perceptibly possible, it doesn't mean this is going to happen.

Nobody should drive while high. However, we shouldn't keep marijuana illegal because people might drive high. The reason being is that the reasoning behind the law would be redundant. Nothing should be made illegal (marijuana) to prevent people from doing something illegal (driving while high). Only the illegal activity that's trying to be prevented should be illegal (driving while high).

Also, I should point out that even though marijuana does effect everyone a little bit differently, the effects are generally within the same realm of one another. You'll find the effects of alcohol to be far more random than the effects of marijuana. Marijuana can do anything from making you a little bit paranoid, to lazy, to acting a bit weird. Alcohol can do anything from make you sad, to make you restless, to make you lazy, to make you angry, to make you violent, to make you incredibly stupid.

Oh, and here's something about pot smokers at school.

A lot of students who you see smoking pot may be dumb, but keep in mind that the pot didn't make them dumb, but rather, the dumb people are simply attracted to smoking pot.

This is similar to people who do drugs such as meth. Most people who have done hard drugs such as meth started out smoking marijuana. This doesn't mean marijuana causes people to do hard drugs though, since most people who smoke marijuana don't do hard drugs.

I have to agree with NoName. We don't make alcohol illegal just because there are people who drink and drive. So why should we make weed illegal because of the same reason?
Marijuana isn't physically addictive (unlike alcohol). Surely there are negative consequences if you smoke to often but you have the same problems with alcohol.
If Marijuana was legal we could tax it and we would have less drug dealers. And people who smoke weed wouldn't be seen as criminals (which can destroy your future).

Na. It should not be legal.

Marijuana is similar to drugs.

Marijuana is a drug- like alcohol and nicotine. That's not a reason why it shouldn't be legal.

I see no reason why it should be illegal at all. Prohibition has only proven to be unsuccessful.

Well, sine we are talking terms of medical here, I won't bore you with jail prices and statistics, instead I'm just going to focus on the fact that as doctors, they are not aloud to refuse someone relief for pain. In a lot of cases, Marijuana is the ease to that pain, with no side effects. IF you watch T.V (Don't say you don't) You will see advertisements for medicine, where the "This drug may cause...." IS longer then what the drug actually does. The thing about Marijuana, besides a bit of lung damage (which can be worked around by eating it) There are no side effects. It's a great money maker as well....

It's really not why it should be legal, because that is easy to answer, ask your self "Why is it still illegal, and then find a solution"

If not completely legal, it should at least be legal for medical purposes. Marijuana is so much safer than tobacco and alcohol, and yet they're legal. Besides, the government would make so much money if marijuana was legal.
