Ok so here it is will the world end or is it just a bunch of junk written by some old Aztecs. I do not think it will end but I would like other peoples input. This is a friendly place to post your statement no religious battles or anything like that. Thank you.
This year goes down as one of the most pronounced states of hysteria over the return of Christ. All members of society seemed affected by the prediction that Jesus was coming back on Jan 1, 1000 AD. There really weren't any of the events required by the Bible transpiring at that time. The magical number 1000 was primarily the sole reason for the expectation. During December 999 AD, everyone was on their best behavior; worldly goods were sold and given to the poor, swarms of pilgrims headed east to meet the Lord at Jerusalem, buildings went unrepaired, crops were left unplanted, and criminals were set free from jails. The year 999 AD turned into 1000 AD and... nothing happened.
Oh sorry I had no Idea that somebody has already made a forum like this. An honest mistake, I mean how many people have made a thread does god exist? Sorry.

The Mayan Calender ends on 2012 - that's all it did, it wasn't an effort to say "Zomg we're all going to die" on that date on the Aztecs / Mayans part, it was simply a modern-idiot of today's interpretation.
Anyway, back onto the other thread :>

They expected the world to last for exactly 13 baktun cycles 1 baktun cycles is 144.000 days long. Their calendar started on 3114-AUG-13 BCE with the birth of Venus. They anticipated the end of the world near the Winter Solstice of 2012 (they didn't know of the year 2012 because the year we use today is from the birth of christ. but we can still count the days from then till now.)
so the mayas actualy did say. "Zomg we're all going to die"

I admit that it was wrong I should have listed to the other side of the story before putting my opinion out there. It was wrong of me to state a opinion when I did not know all of the facts.

No, no; it's not hurting anything. I'm not trying to shoot you down. In fact, it's the opposite: you must have created this thread because it interests you or you want people's opinions on it, or you wouldn't have made it. So, I'm just giving you a link that provides more information.
My opinion: I don't believe the world will end. There have been countless "end-of-the-world" dates in the past century, and we're still here! I don't think there is much, if any, credibility to claims that the world will end. However, I can't help but notice the strange (seeming) increase in the number of powerful weather events, volcanic eruptions, etc.
It does not. They predicted a cycle to end and a new to begin at that date, but it is not the end of their calculation of times. Don't believe what the medias have invented to sell their stuff. Because that's all there is about it, really.
Isn't what the media said exactly above before you said that? I first heard of this in the documentary about the Aztecs and the Mayan Calender - the new cycle is apparently when the Earth travels into the centre of the galaxy every 26,000 years.
Now THAT is media invented, but nonetheless there's been things to do with other planets, that dull Scientology and etc... It's difficult to keep track of which theory is which. Not that I think it matters TOO much - I would love to know the actual culture of the Aztecs and Mayans (aside from the sacrifices etc), but 2012 = Doomsday is not going to happen.
However, I can't help but notice the strange (seeming) increase in the number of powerful weather events, volcanic eruptions, etc.
Yellowstone national park has had some of its locations rise up to 5 metres lately. I wouldn't really be too worried about it, ultimately what are we actually going to do against it?
Not a great deal, I don't think (despite there actually being a rediculous plan to stockpile seeds and etc to help boost life again if a doomsday is to happen - this plan by the Government because they play the game safe :P ).
does no one read the bible? no man will know the date or hour the end of the world will happen thus 2012 wont happen for all we know the end of the world is tonight
