The oil resources around the world are fastly depleting. The sources of oil that are there are very hard to get and refine. So should we continue to use oil as our main resource or should we find alternative energy.

So, instead of focusing on alternate resources that cannot power the big stuff,

magnets have no problem whit that. it's a unending source of energy.
narrowing yourself to only 2 sources of energy like oil and nuclear doesn't make sence if your searching for alternate energy sources. both of the sources that you see are bad for nature. we should look for energy that doesn't damage nature.

For now, yes. But people are already making better electric cars. The only problem is that we need electric fuel stations, instead of the oil fuel station. And here in America, we hate change.

It has nothing to do with change. Electric cars are simply underpowered. They are horrible.

Finish this sentence: The electricity used to power electric cars comes from...

If they wanted alternative energy they would fund it, they did fund solar energy in the 70s but only up to like 70million when the project cost 500 million.

The problem with government funding is that there's so much money, it's more profitable to progress SLOWLY! Why work hard and stop at 20 million when you can keep milking the cow? In the free market, your funding is limited, meaning you will have to decide how to best use each dollar. Of course, there's the problem that you won't have enough funds, but this is where you use donations and make money in other ways to pay off your project.

how do you know? ever driven one?
my guess is that they will drive very smoothly. and way less parts can break.
anyway electric fuel stations are here in the netherlands.(at peoples own house taking energy from the normale house energy supply.) the northern part of the country (groningen) is trying to make the change. also is the goverment in that part promoting electric cars by lowering the price of them. if they didn't do that electric cars would simply be to expensive yet.

the cars they use can easly speed up and drive as fast as the other cars on the highway. so i don't think they are realy horrible.

they have tried hydrogen cars, but the only problem they have is that is like driving a bomb around. that's very unstable.

They've also tried cars that run on air. But I've noticed that those kinds of cars don't look like cars that people would want to drive. It doesn't make much sense.

I think that eventually after we use up all of the fossil fuels we use as fuel we will haveto go to nuclear power to provide electricity that will essentially power everything so i think we shouldnt necessarily stop mining oil but we should look towards the future and try to get ahead because although we can get "green" energy we could provide so much more with nuclear power and that could produce efficient energy to power almost anything

They last less than 100 miles before you have to charge them for 8+ hours. I think that causes horribleness.

abour 500km. and you can drive around whit it for about 8 hours.
in a country like mine it's way enoufg. you can go to the other side and back whit it. =)

just give it time, science never takes a step back. it will only improof.

we could provide so much more with nuclear power

where do you want to keep all the nuclear waste untill eternity?
nuclear power is nice but it's not safe for humans or nature.
we should look for a energy source that is not harming nature.
staying whit the bad energy sources we alrdy have will not bring humanity to a next level.

We will launch it into space.

What if it mislaunches and crashes to the ground? What if, instead of drifting away into space, it ends up as part of the barrier of space detritus that hovers around the Earth? What if it ends up coming back to Earth and some point in the future?

I never said anything about missiles. Simply we get a hedgehog to carry it into space for us. And with all the money we make with the electricity, we can do every hedgehog in 1 day!

oke then we get on. we are going to drive nuclear cars?
temperatures to get nuclear energy are insane high. it doesn't sound safe at all. you have to empty your cars nuclear waste yourself. if something go's wrong at that point it can be very bad for the whole neighborhood. and if there are as much nuclear cars as we have cars right now. it doesn't take long befor something bad whit it happens.

it's just such a bad idea that i can't discribe how bad it realy is.

Here's an idea:

The air powered car! Though it will probably cost a lot, it might lower in price as technology advances.

And then...

Yes, the turby! In theory, it can power an entire household. I remember seeing this thing on the science channel a few years back, so this is relatively old.

These are (hopefully) long-term solutions to our problems.

No. The US should NOT rely on oil as a main resource, nor other countries. The Wind-generated electricity would do the trick and is way cheaper. And better: it never ends!

Wrong, generating electricity from wind is more expensive. If it was cheaper the countries would have abandoned oil a long time ago.
