What is the Qu'rans attitude towards sorcery? Do muslims believe in sorcery, and if so, do they condemn it? Or don't they believe in it and condemn belief in sorcery?

"Divination and magic in Islam encompass a wide range of practices, including black magic, warding off the evil eye, the production of amulets and other magical equipment, conjuring, casting lots, astrology, and physiognomy. Muslims do commonly believe in magic (Sihr) and explicitly forbid its practice.

Sihr translates from Arabic as sorcery or black magic. The best known reference to magic in Islam is the Surah Al-Falaq (meaning dawn or daybreak), which is known as a prayer to Allah to ward off black magic.

'Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn From the mischief of created things; From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads; From the mischief of those who practise secret arts; And from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy. (Quran 113:1â"5)'

Also according to the Quran:

'And they follow that which the devils falsely related against the kingdom of Solomon. Solomon disbelieved not; but the devils disbelieved, teaching mankind sorcery and that which was revealed to the two angels in Babel, Harut and Marut ... And surely they do know that he who trafficketh therein will have no (happy) portion in the Hereafter; and surely evil is the price for which they sell their souls, if they but knew. (al-Qur'an 2:102)'

I believe this is enough.

Just asking because in Saudi Arabia, someone got beheaded for practicing 'sorcery', or offering such services. Since he asked money for it, I can understand why he got arrested, but not why he got beheaded.
And as far as I know, the Bible condemns belief in sorcery. I'd like to know what the Qu'ran says.

Almost everything happening in SA is just BS.

Greetings

The quran says the bible is like what chirstians say is the old testement.
islam does not believe in extremity and the people who are resposible for 9/11 will most likely go to hell according to the quran
we belive in jesus as a prophet and agree allah has given him many miraculous gifts we also belive in abraham, adam, noah, jonah, and many others i can't say them because i only know them in thier arabic tongue. Jesus = Isa pronounced ee-sa
also in saudi arabia they give special jobs for people who were behanded and beheading is only done to murderers or practicers of magic. if the family affected by the murder or mgic (magic has serious side affects some people become possessed) they can forgive the murder or sorcerer. muslims are suppose to be kind to all religions and never try to force others to join islam. i would like to know about the christian faith if you don't mind me asking

So what? What does this have to do with being harsh? I'll tell you what is harsh: You can get the death penalty for apostasy in Saudi Arabia!

Saudi Arabia has a population of 25.7 million. Americas population is 311+ million.

That's why there's a difference.

holy prophet is more respectful to us than our parents and a muslims first piriority is islam than his country and than his family so if there will b no death penalty for blasphemy than there will b riots and incidents like ghazi alam den and amir cheema so in my opinion death penalty for blasphemer keeps law and order in society

Actually, Americans are allowed to say whatever they want about the holocaust. Because nobody is physically harmed, no action is taken.

You're right to behead people who doubt the existence of your non-existent god is like me going off to my own island and making it legal to skull **** kittens. Sure, I may have that right on my own island, but it's still sick, disgusting, and wrong.

My point is that I don't care what your "rights" are, because rights don't determine what is right and wrong. Humanity as a whole is striving towards a world where people are allowed to do whatever they want to do as long as they don't harm others. Even Christians have jumped on the bandwagon (for the most part). If someone doesn't follow your faith, or if someone doubts it, LET THEM BE. To think someone should die because they don't share your god DOES make you a bad person.

harsh punishments prevent crimes

Harsh punishment prevents crimes in the same way constantly raping a woman prevents the woman from wearing skimpy outfits. What you said is absolute bollocks because you're only focusing on the end, completely ignoring the means.

Harsh punishment IS crime.

First of all, what constitutes as a crime differs in Saudi Arabia and America. Second, you forgot to calculate all the crimes your government commits. Third, it's not hard to prevent crime when you stick a gun up everyone's rectum.

When someone speaks ill of your god, you find it appropriate for the government to kill them. Oh look, a murder, but you don't consider it a crime because it was the government whom committed the act.

Until your government learns that blasphemy isn't a crime, **** Islam.

A religion of peace is not really of peace when they kill everyone who is more logical than them.

Have you ever seen a picture of a gas chamber after a killing? It's still creeps the **** out of me, seeing a pile of dead bodies, and the largest pile is always at the door...

Sure, I may have that right on my own island, but it's still sick, disgusting, and wrong.

It's really only wrong according to modern society and modern morals, but people should probably abide by those morals.

Second, you forgot to calculate all the crimes your government commits.

Because the number would be inconceivably high if he did.
