I'm surprised that the riots have been going for 3 days already and nobody has made a thread about it yet. Then again, I only learnt about it today. London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Croydon are all going up in smoke (to varying degrees), apparently. Reasons are as yet not fully identified but speculation has it that youth unemployment and dissatisfaction with the austerity measures are primary factors.
Anybody got any insights? Especially from the Poms.
I think they just need to shoot some riotters with real bullets. It will scare everyone off.
They're not like 1 big crowd rallying: it's small groups of bandits stealing things from local shops, damaging property, and occasionally killing others.
And a night clock for a few days/weeks so nobody is on the streets after .. Hour
With round-the-clock jobs, that isn't possible. People might work until those hours.

WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. HELL. What good is that gonna do anyone?! Petty crime isn't an excuse to use lethal force! Even in extenuating circumstances people don't need to die for small crimes, for any crimes for that matter. If the police started gunning people down and enforcing curfews then they would have a riot ten ties this one on their hands, and rightly so.
6 people died, many others burned out of their houses and businesses countless other injured and robbed, I'm glad its over, but I would have been happier if it never begun
definitely not,n we have too many liberal saps with too much influence, and evryone with a say is extremely liberal, everyone who doesn't isn't.
I am glad however that rioters are getting longer sentences than people who have commited the same crime not during the riots.
This happens under the logic, that by comminting these crimes they enable others to commit their crimes and are therefore partially responsible for all the cirmes that happened as part fo the group and evenet you were in.
