I was listening to the radio this morning and heard that this group of "hackivists" is going to take down facebook on November 5th. This date is exactly the same as when Guy Fawkes tried to blow up parliament (failed) and the "big day" in V for Vendetta (succeeded). They're doing this because Facebook is allegedly selling information to governments. Article On This

I wasn't? What ever gave you that impression? I was imply saying that in my experience most people that have facebook use it to enhance friendships not replace them.

for me i use it to arrange meeting my friends without wasting credit
now thats healty, but i often hear that people are addicted to facebook. even readin on on there i-phones whle in conversation whit some1. thats just not healty anymore.

not at all i just don't know any and what i hear about it at work doesn't sound that great that i have to check it out.
Well, you started defending your reasons for using Facebook without any prompt to do so. He never said anything about using Facebook as a substitute for friends. It was kind of out of nowhere. All he did was express his preference for direct, face-to-face communication.
i'd salute Anonymous for doing that i just started highschool and i'd like to see all the griping and complaining about it. facebook needs to be taken down for a week see what happens and the cybercide count.
First off, Anonymous IS NOT the hackers behind the PSN shutdown, they just ****ed with the Sony website. They did not intend to infect the gamers in any way.
If Facebook is "destroyed" as they imply, then I will sit back and chuckle because I dont care about my Facebook so much. Other ppl in my school will be destroyed.
Just because you guys know people that are addicted to facebook doesn't mean everyone is, in fact barely anyone is, I would be really annoyed if it went down because it would mean i would have to waste money on my phone to communicate, and I wouldn't be able to speak to my cousins and auntie who live in other parts of the world.
I've seen people addicted to AG but that doesn't mean everyone is, and it would unfair and unreasonable for some know it all hacker control freak idiot to take it away.
Well, if they did hack teh Facebook, it would be totally contradicting what they claim to by doing, which is protecting internet freedom of speech. Anonymous refrained from hacking the WBC website when challenged by them, saying they wouldn't hack their site because even though Anonymous didn't agree with what WBC was saying, they had a right to say it.
In simpler terms, Anonymous THE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO PROTECT FREEDOM OF SPEECH won't hack facebook.
I believe they want to hack FaceBook because FaceBook is trying to end internet anonymity or something along those lines. I believe they are trying to expand beyond their site to make sure everyone is attached to a name.
