Well Gojira is the "only" good band from France,

I wouldn't say that. Winterburst is a good underground French band, as far as symphonic black metal goes.

@Turtelman1234. They are more Black&Thrash in their laters albums, try The Sun of Tiphareth (1995) and Tara (2001) astonishing releases representing that style.

Adagio's guys came from my region, they are really talented

I got a Masterclass with Patrick Rondat who lasts 3 days, one year ago. This man is just awsome. I thought he was impressive before to see him, but now I'm addict xD He's really accessible and simple for a great guitarist
This one is my fav from him

An other great French guitarist less known : Manu Livertout One song of his last album

Anyways, I'm not the kind that will tell you what is metal and what isn't. I hate having a conversation, and someone goes, 'Yeah, but that band isn't even metal!'
Well, I don't care, it's good.

Personally, I love Symphonic metal and would greatly reccomand IceWind. It's from Quebec, they're not extremely popular, but I love their music, especially from 'Again Came the Storm'. Other then that, the legendary Bullet for my Valentine, Slipknot, Iron Maiden, pretty much the classic Heavy Metal.

Lol... Speaking of Canada, the band Borealis is a Canadian metal band that brings quite a nice sound to the genre. To an extent, the band reminds me of Symphony X... for those of you who are familiar with them. I've only ever listened to their album Fall From Grace. I haven't delved too much into the lyrics or their meanings, but music for the sake of music wise they're worth a try. Their music is, for the most part, fast paced and "metal," and the slower song of the album Watch the World Collapse is just as good as any of the others. (I guess we could argue that if you disagree)

I'd suggest the two songs Fall from Grace and Finest Hour, but everything on the album is good imo.

I think I've said something about them before, but because I saw tons O' Canada band references in this thread I decided to add another.

Slipknot is band often disliked by people, but I really don't understand why.

I don't like them because of the masks and the fact one of the drummers (I think his name was Joey?) said that Slipknot is the heaviest band in the world. Arrogant people annoy me to know end >:I

Lamb of God is one of the best metal band nowadays.

Randy was incredible in Adoration for None by Gojira. But there's a new band who's vocalist sounds almost just like him, they're called Solipsist. They're not half-bad for being brand new.

Well Slipknot gets so much **** from people beacsue they are unique, with different intrumenst not doing exactly wut every otyer metal band does. also hoe is teh fact they wear masks??? I think there cool and it has no effect on there music so masks is a ****ty reason to hate them. it is arrogant to say ur the heaviest band in the world, but cmon some of there old songs scare even me how heavy they are.

If I went to a concert, I'd like to see the face of who I'm listening to.

The thing I don't like about it having 9-10 members is the fact it only sounds like 4-5. If you're going to have that many members, make it sound like that.
