If God were proven beyond any doubt, if God literally appeared out of the sky to all of the world to see and proclaimed him/her/itself to be God, would you accept it? Would you be able to toss your previous beliefs aside and accept the fact that there would be a God in your life?
I actually don't think a 'touchable god' could convince me. I mean, it could be anything. IMO different evidence is required than simply a physical being. A spectre with which I could talk about everything and who would give me the 'right' feeling would be better.
if god appeared in the sky the first wuestion i would ask is wich god as the religions range from multiple god like the antient roman with zues/athena/apallo/posidon/ares to christianity where it is one god that only exists in one place
i wouldnt believe it, anyone with the right technology could come down from the sky and claim to be a god. all he would need is a fancy light show or something and he would have people fooled.
If there was sufficient proof (and right now, I couldn't even begin to tell you what I'd consider sufficient proof in such an instance), then yes, I would take him/her/it/Zoidberg to be God.
Now, actually worshipping this person/bowl of noodles/dog, that's a different question entirely.
If there's a proof that he's really God, there won't be any reasons for me to deny it. If one day He shatter the sky to say "Hello World", I'll think about your thread xD Until it happens, I'll remain Atheists ^_^

Yes we would have to eliminate the possibility that it's a technological trick of some sort. This is why a controlled environment would be required to make such a determination.
I would still need a little more proof than just seeing this deity pop out of nowhere. Like, he would have to save the millions dying in Africa, cure AIDS and Cancer and so forth

he isn't going to cure aids and cancer. he created aids and cancer. christians that have aids or cancer should feel blessed by god xD

Why would that deity do this only to convince some people? If it hasn't been done by now, either there's no deity to help out, or there is one that doesn't want to help out.
But I agree, popping out in front of me wouldn't be really a proof of divinity :P

Why do I have to think of Corprus now... (a disease in TES3:Morrowind, also called 'divine disease'.

On the seventh Day God rested. On the eighth day God got wasted and created disease. On the ninth day God sobered up realized what he did and created the immune system. On the tenth day God got wasted again and created the immunodeficiency virus causing failure to the immune system he created the day before.

on the 11th day god thought, "oke i messed this up prety bad. oh well... lets start over over there a planet far away from here. maybe i'll go fix it sometime or forget about it:"
I think Atheists should create a Bible that is corrected but with one major flaw and then call it divine inspiration and see how many Christians would believe it.
