Today is the day that, or so camping claims, the world ends. every one Die's today because the world ends. Or is this just another one of his wild theories. I cant help but laugh at this predicament.
Those predictions are based on the principle that the universe behaves in a uniform fashion; that the future will reflect the past, and laws of nature will continue to behave the way they have.
Almost right, a consistent fashion would be more accurate.
Therefore, the Christian is justified in making predictions and drawing generalizations from observations.
Except for those which contradict the Bible of course, like all observations do. As there are no observations that support the Bible...well, we just like to ignore those.
The atheist has no similar justification. At the very best, an atheist can claim that in the past the universe has seemed to have uniformity.
Let me help you re-word this.
"The atheist has a similar justification. An atheist can show with independent observations and experiements that the universe behaves in a consistent fashion."
There we go, that's better.
But how could the atheist know that uniformity will continue into the future unless the atheist knows about uniformity some other way?
If something always has been in the past, it's not unreasonable to expect it to continue. Now of course, we DO leave room for, "what if it DID change" and thus we cannot say for certain as we do not know the future. This is the difference between science and religion. Science changes according to what is, religion takes what is and tries to shove it into what it claims.
Oh... if its doomsday today... then how am i on armor games posting this comment in the thread. Good Fite... Nobody really knos when the earth is going to end... No1 has "Mystical powers" to predict this. We will only know this when it happens.... Many ppl predicted the day the earth goes kablam. Someone says it will end in December 24th, 2012. Theres even a movie for 2012.... <_< people these days...
