NOTE: This is not an anti religion post, simply a philosophical and age old debate.
Ok, so very very basically, here is an issue with the typical Christian view of God, a view shared by other religions, aside, however.
God is all good God is all powerful (omnipotent) God is all knowing
If God is all good, then why does he make evil things happen? Why does he create murderers and tsunamis?
Some say God creates us with the choice to do good and bad that we may have free will.
So, in this case God creates us without knowing if we'll choose to be good or bad people, or even if we will believe in him/her.
So God doesn't know if we're going to be good or bad, so God is not all knowing.
BUT - Imagine we still want to hold that he his all knowing, i.e he knows everything about everything. This means God creates us knowing that we're going to be good or bad people, this means that he condemns those he creates bad to a life of sin and ultimately hell, so he can't be all Good.
BUT - if we want to still hold that he is all good, then there must be another reason murderers and tsunamis exist, but what? Maybe God created the world, and is not powerful enough to intervene. Then God is no longer all-powerful. Either that or he is powerful enough to intervene, and simply doesn't want to, in which case he is not all good. What do you think about all this?
According to some ancient transcripts, the one thing the Devil wanted was power and equal status to God. So I don't think being in a place like that, a prison, and knowing he will never be as powerful as the thing that sent him there can't be all enjoyable. And if he had absolute free reign, I think he would destroy his creators creation, making me wonder how much freedom the Devil actually has.
Another question is: If God has no end and no beggining, what was he doing before he created Earth?
And if he had absolute free reign, I think he would destroy his creators creation, making me wonder how much freedom the Devil actually has.
I think turning the creations agianst god is worse than just destroying them and that's what the devil is doing. Also it seems to me that the devil has quite alot of power if he is able to make us sin alot easier than god is able to make us do good.
So how many rough drafts did he have to toss until he got to the perfect plan?
Dunno. All I can say is, it must take a lot of planning to think of something so convoluted that 7000 years of written history can't conclude one way or the other.
And did he recycle those plans???
Nah, he stored them in a file cabinet labled, "Ideas that can make sense"
But if he is all-knowing, he would have known what the perfect plan would be right off the bat.
That's why I said he didn't throw away any drafts and didn't make a draft because right in the beggining he had the right idea. I wonder if he was cold before making the stars...
I wonder if he was cold before making the stars...
Course not, he's all powerful which means he probably had a giant campfire that he divided to make the suns after everything was made. duh!
God isn't physical you fools, He doesn't "get cold"
God isn't physical you fools, He doesn't "get cold"
So what is he? If he isn't matter then he can't exist, everything has to be made of matter. Unless he i just an abstract concept, which would make perfect sence other than the fact that we're worshiping an abstract idea.
So what is he? If he isn't matter then he can't exist, everything has to be made of matter.
You keep switching ideas. We can talk about him as if he goes by the rules of our universe, or we can talk about him as if he creates the rules of the universe.
which would make perfect sence other than the fact that we're worshiping an abstract idea.
Don't people worship (in less extreme ways) morals and values that they follow in their life. They hold them to a very high regard. Why would this be different?
