--I'm not sure if this fits better in the Tavern or in the WEPR, so mods, move it as you see fit(of course you would do that regardless, but still--
As I'm sure AG's American members know, in 2012 the United States will be electing a new president or reelecting the incumbent. Normally this is done with electoral colleges, primaries, etc. on a national level. But I thought it would be kind of cool to hold a mock presidential election in AG, just to see what happens. The candidates will be the same, the only difference is that the voting will be on a much smaller scale. You guys will vote for which presidential candidate you like best, and at the end of two weeks(I may extend or shorten this deadline) we will see who the president of the United States should be, according to the members of AG.
But before we start voting between Obama and the Republican candidate, first we have to vote for a Republican candidate in the primary. I'm gonna change the rules a bit on the primary: you don't have to be a Republican in order to vote on the Republican primary. That's because there is no Democratic primary, Obama is the undisputed presidential candidate for the Democrats. The Republican who gets the most votes on AG, regardless of who wins the actual primary, will be the one moving on to face off against the incumbent Obama.
Rules
1. You can only vote once, unless you vote once in the primary and once in the main election.
2. In order for your vote to count, you must provide a reason for why you want that person to be president or to win the primary.
3. Let's try and keep this civil: no slandering, name-calling, or making fun of anyone because of their vote.
We are currently voting on the Republican primary(so no voting for Obama yet, vote for which Republican you want to be the party's candidate). I will be tallying the votes at the end of week one to determine the Republican primary winner, then we will start voting on who should be the actual president. At the end of week two, I will tally the votes from that election and post who is the official President of the United States as decided by ArmorGames.

Just wait until we get past the primaries. And also, can we make a rule that a candidate needs to get a certain number of votes before being declared the winner?

Just the way I like it.

Anyways, looking at the nice graph provided here, Gingrich was dominating, but took a massive dive into second place. Romney is on a steady pace in first place. Lastly, Paul seems to have skyrocketed recently but is still in 4th place.

I already set a time limit. I don't know about a set number of votes, though.

Based on nationwide polls, or polls in Iowa?

Romney has been projected as the winner, with Ron Paul as a strong second. Thats what the FOX new ticker tape says, anyways.

And now for some news that will no doubt make you facepalm: I have, in the last 15 minutes, seen three, yes, three adds for Rick Perry, and approoved by Rick Perry. Guy needs a wake up call. >.>

Also seen a Romney add, a Ron Paul add, two Santorum adds, and a anti-Gingrich add. I'm considering turning my tv off for the next week or so.

As for Gingrich nose-diving in the polls, you'd be curious to know that it happened at around the time he started bashing other candidates.

The price of living in a primary state during the presidential election season, I suppose.

I agree, it makes him look petty.

Report on the New Hampshire primary...Mitt Romney pulled in with a commanding lead at about 38%, Paul in second place with 23%, and Huntsman took third with 17%. Next primary state is South Carolina, which is probably why the Republican candidates have taken residence inside Mav's television.

All right, Republican primary is officially over.
Republican Primary
Winner: Ron Paul

Now for the actual election...
BARACK OBAMA/JOE BIDEN
V.S.
RON PAUL/ANDREW NAPOLITANO

Napolitano is not necessarily going to be Paul's VP, but he does seem to be the most in line with Paul and Paul does need a running mate for this race...so I picked Napolitano. If there are any objections to this, please speak up.

So, now we pick between Obama and Paul right?

I pick Obama. I compleatly hate Paul's views on energy and abortion. And I kindof dislike his views on homschooling. I like Obama's views on energy, I think his views on the LGBT are okay. And I think he'll at least compremise on a few other things.

I support Paul for republican candidate because I completely hate the unliberal ideas of all the other candidates, but I'm not so sure about the rest of Ron's ideas. Obama's ideas are liberal enough for me, and I support his other ideas also enough, so although i don't want either very much, I would have to go with Obama.
