Yay Penguins! Great to see a new thread stuffed with great pictures!
Penguins indeed. And stuffed, well, not so much. But at least I can butt in here once in a while to get some responses.
I like your penguin. Very good use of water coloring. But I have to ask, where are the horse porn pictures?
You only say that because you can't see the entire picture. Watercolour is hard to deal with. As for the horse porn, I doubt Strop will be posting anything in this thread this time around. Probably for the better.
The first picture is simple which is nice. There are parts you could clean up that would make me happy but it is not big deal. There is a part on the left of the dragon that is the background but looks like it could be part of the dragon, that bugs me a little. The smoke coming from the dragon is really well done.
I don't think I can clean it much better without redrawing it on computer, really. Perhaps remove that one line from the hatching that went onto the foot, but otherwise I don't know. What part exactly?
OK. The next picture is watercolor it seems. It is really good. I HATE painting. I can never get the detail that I want. You did a good job with it though. Are the black things supposed to be other heads?
As I mentioned a couple of times, it's mainly watercolour pencils, which are a lot easier to work with in most cases. The black aura thing is the real watercolour. So, get yourself some watercolour pencils, they are more colourful than regular colouring pencils, and they get rather handy when you want to do watercolour-like stuff. The black things are what I assume can be considered ominous tentacles: And this makes it rather obvious how bad my memory works. The neck-part should have been black as well, but that would probably have messed with the 'rotting, damages skin' thing.
Can I critique the last one? PLEASE?
Nope. You can comment on it, but I am not in a state of mind where a critique would do anything but aggravate me. Not just because it was a day long work to get it done, that I managed to screw up a number of times (don't try to erase stuff when the paper isn't entirely dry!) and so on and so forth, but rather because this is going to be a present, and knowing something could be changed will make me redo it, and I don't have neither time nor sanity to do so.
Two of the feet. The one on the far left and far right. There is also a small one on the tail. And I think if you didn't have the lines where the wing connects it might look better but it might not.
And this makes it rather obvious how bad my memory works.
Well yours is better anyway.

Fine. I like penguins. It is good.

Very well. It was not the best of designs anyway, and the lines at the wing was mainly because I had made the back line too long, and was trying to disguise it. So, understandable.
Well yours is better anyway.
Well, everything is better with rotting flesh. I have taken a great liking to many of the fifth gens mainly due to a mix between their design and their dex entry. Hydreigon? Mainly because it looks like someone ripped off its legs, and its tail is rotting off. Its shiny is green, so it just goes double for that.
I like penguins. It is good.
Yay!
Ya. That is never good. Did you make holes in it?
Nah, I was working on acrylic paper, which, while thick, isn't exactly aquarell paper. So, I just managed to erase away some of the colour and the paper, and then smudge the rest of the colour. Stupid move, but I think it was saved pretty well.

.............................................................................................. .............................................................................................. Friendship over man. Friendship over. Everyone knows that first generation is the best. OK, our friendship isn't over but 5th gen? Really?
So are those mountains in the background... or a rhino?
If it is not mountains and it is a rhino I would have many questions for Cen, besides that he likes 5th generation Pokemon.

And elephant, actually.

Let's delete this rant and instead go Yup, fifth gens. Not all of them. I think I like somewhere around 10-20 of them for either design or background information (or for them being fire Pokemon), and I totally understand why people don't like that generation very much from both a design and a game perspective. But it won't stop me from liking Hydreigon. Or Chandelure, the little macabre chandelier. Just as Magmar being a first gen doesn't make it look any less like someone smacked it in the face with a pan real hard. It's just a matter of taste, and some of them does deserve more than the usual "Ew, gen I don't like, booh!". Though the trash and the ice cream cone mons should kindly go die in a hellfire.
besides that he likes 5th generation Pokemon.
I have a horrible urge to draw up a few just to show you how badbutt they can be. Instead, have some recycling:
Drew all of them, otherwise I would have written a disclaimer. Though, for the sake of fairness, the meme itself was made by the dA user AquaMizuko, with her(?) url present on the meme itself.
And it is indeed a Nidoking in the second picture. I kinda like that guy, though it was Zophia's choice to include it. But that is a longer, more boring story.
I wonder if I ought to draw up a good bunch of my favourite pokemon, but that probably wouldn't be popular.
Some stories are more interesting when you have not heard them before. But if it really is boring I don't want you wasting your time typing it.
Long story short: We were going to collab, she sent a sketch, I couldn't find a proper way of correcting it to not look like the nido was curbstomping the hydra, did new sketch, did line art, got chewed out for not using the sketch. Wonderful times.
What are you talking about? I still LOVE Pokemon. And you should draw what you want and not what you think will be popular.
Well, I do enjoy drawing pokemon, but it isn't the best of choice for getting some proper art for my portfolio, and I always get a bit on edge when doing fanart, because it always seems like I am the only one enjoying myself, the same way I get on edge when uploading drawings of Cen derping around. After all, it's not like I have people jumping at my thread every time I post something.
Anyway, to something completely different: All you people with more money than me, and thus tablet computers: What would your recommendations be for a cheap, powerful tablet computer for artistic travel use? I can probably get used to the finger painting, if I can't get a stylus or one of the alternatives, but being without my graphic tablet is kinda... Well, paper has a way of being limited in a variety of ways that I always forget about before I end up missing an inch of the drawing I am doing, because I have run out of paper, so I wouldn't mind having some other way to get some sketches down... So, tablet computers that aren't going to leave me eating noodles for the next fourteen years?
I can always count on you, Gantic. And I actually do have some art to post for once, I just don't have it have it. It's the downside to the traditional media. Will scan when I get the chance.
