"Virtual-Reality-Gaming has been around for a little over a decade," the reporter says, smile plastered on her cheery face, "but not in a way that the game company Fictusrem is now presenting it."
The reporter at the gaming convention goes on to explain that a new game was coming out- a fantasy mmorpg that allowed the player to embrace and explore a whole new world. To you this sounds like a great game, so you pre-order the console and the game.
You take it that you are very lucky- the game sells out only minutes after you purchase it. 25,000 copies sold in a matter of days. This game is called 'Brave Souls', and as you unwrap the console, hook it up, and then input the game into the headgear, you can't help but feel happy.
You turn on the game- and enter a vast world.....
But everything isn't as it seems.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Hello! Welcome to my first real attempt at a Forum Game. To save some confusion and perhaps some name-calling, this idea is not my own, but is based heavily off of an anime show called Sword Art Online. I highly recommend watching it, not only because it could give you a feel for this game, but because its a highly praised show; one that I personally really enjoyed.
But, if you don't want to watch it, that's fine, too. I will try to explain the concept quickly: A virtual reality game comes out, and once the player gets inside the game, there is no log-out option. They are told by the game's creator that they are trapped in the game and they are not allowed to leave until the players complete the 100th level of the game. There is a catch, and that is, if you die within the game, the headset will emit high frequency microwaves into your brain, killing you. Thus, this game just got a lot more serious.
If you want to play, then just post the following character sheet and we can go from there.

CHARACTER SHEET
Name: This is the name of your character, and the name that others will be able to see you by. In otherwords, it is your username for the mmo
Race: See below. Each race gives different types of bonuses.
Background: Optional, make it of the actual person in the virtual-reality-headset.
Starting Kit: See below, gives you different equipment to kcikstart you into the game.
Inventory Determined by Starting Kit.
Abilities This is the equivalent to Skills in other RPGs. They are the things you train and get better at. There are said to be an unlimited amount.

RACES:
Common Human: The generic common person. They are astonishingly average- not standing out or having any clear flaws to distinguish them from others.
+20% Starting Gold
Condling- This breed of small people are black skinned and black haired. They receive:

Belua- This is a deformed race, representing mixes of different races. Some have horns, other are shorter, but it is easy to tell that this race doesnt seem to belong.
-Once per ingame day, a Belua can disappear in a cloud of smoke. They are, in reality, invisible and can move undetected for 10 seconds before reappearing.
-Upon death, a Belua turns undead and grows 3.5x normal size, attacking anything in sight with a 20% attack and damage bonus. It has -75% health however.
-A Belua has a +3 Attack Bonus with simple weapons.

The warrior is your basic, generic sword/axe wielding warrior. You start with the following to add to your inventory slots.
-Bronze sword {+3, 1d6} OR -Light Bronze Axe {1d6+2}
-Bronze Ringmail {+5 AC}
-You may also add the following ability to the 'Ability' tab: 'Break, Lvl 1'. Break= User strikes a blow to specifically break a foes weapon, armor, shield ect. Deals 1d4 DMG to the item.
Monk
This is a lightly armored and usually unarmed warrior that focuses on his expertise in martial arts. You start with the following to add to your inventory slots:
-Starter Robes {+1 AC}
- Quarterstaff {2H, Reach, 1d6} OR Bronze Shuko (Fighting Claws){1d4, Dual Wield}
-'Unarmed Strike, Lvl 1' Ability. This allows the user to deal 1d4 damage with their bare hands. As the user increases this skill, the damage and chance-to-hit the target will increase as well. If you do not choose Quarterstaff or Bronze Shuko, you can automatically start with this ability at Lvl 2, which Grants 1d4+1 damage with bare hands.
-The Monk also starts with a Basic Food Package. Once your character opens it up, the game will automatically transfer the results into your inventory.

No problem, thanks for stopping by!

COMBAT ROUND 2~ JACK (Let me know if I can just abbreviate that){12/12 HP} vs. 1x Sand Wolf {Unknown HP}
Initiative Results:
Jack: 2(+0 kit bonus)
Sand Wolf: 15

The remaining Sand Wolf charges at you, avenging its digital ally. You are able to fend it off however, and parry it, slicing clean into the jaw. Blood seeps and stains the hot sand, and you are able to hear some sort of scream, which is surprising because of the 25,000 people all fighting at the same time. Its jaw hangs off, hanging on by bits of crimson cartilage.
Its not dead yet, however, but dismembered.

Abilities: Break, Lvl 1

You input and make changes to the model until it satisfies you. Grinning, you are surprised that the game detected that you were finished making changes to your character.
The screen seems to fade again, slowly this time into an ebony landscape... You wake up..Or.... you open your eyes, regaining sight. Red Letters mark 'Day 1' on the corner of your vision. They dissipate after a few seconds and you take in your surroundings.
You seem to be in some sort of Colosseum. The sand feels warm beneath your feet, the smell of food drifts to you from some direction.... The sun glares down on you and the many people that are joining into the game. The arena seems to be triangular, with scenic murals off to to one wall, with tapestries coloring the other walls. There are closed, rusted iron gates on all 3 walls. There is a very large statue in the center of the depicting a cloaked figure holding a set of keys in one of his hands.
You aren't the only player there, however. Some are inspecting the gate, others talking to eachother in a panicked way.... It seems to be a chaos growing in volume as more players join into the game.

COMBAT ROUND 2~ Rhyos {13/15} vs 2x Sand Wolf {Unknown HP}
Initiative Results:
Rhyos: 19
2x Sand Wolf: 1 {Critical Fail}

You slash at the wolf who bit into you, and although you aimed for the head, the blade landed near the neck. Blood squirts out, and the beast slumps over convulsively shaking. It still seems to be alive however.
The other Sand Wolf seems to be too scared to attack.
It must be the blood painting your face.
Rhyos= 13/15 HP

People start to look at you weirdly. Who is this guy? Some of them think to themselves.
One of them confronts you. She seems to emerge out of a group of her friends. You make contact with her grassy green eyes as she gracefully walks in your direction.
"Hey!" She says loudly. "I have been stuck here for almost 5 hours! Theres no log out button! If something was going to happen I would think that it would have-"
Her voice is broken by deep tremblings in the sand. The whole arena seems to shake in some sort of earthquake.
Ears, and then a head emerge out of the hot sand. Snarling, it comes into a wolf head, the body appearing. Two more Sand Wolves are birthed from the sand as well, bridging the gap between you and the girl. All around the players, wolves are materializing out of the ground.
It seems you were right.
The Girl looks behind her to see her group of friends being stared down by more growling wolves, dripping with sand.

COMBAT ROUND 3~Jack {12/12} vs. 1x Sand Wolf
Initiative Results:
Jack= 9
1x Sand Wolf= 8

You dash towards the bleeding wolf, but something catches the corner of your eye. A young boy is being taken down by three wolves. In the chaos, no one is seeming to help him. Blood seeps from multiple wounds, bits of flesh still wet in the Sand Wolves' teeth. This image seems to haunt you. Its too real. All of a sudden, this doesn't seem to be a game anymore. It seems to be a deathmatch.
Your blow almost hits the wolf. It slows down a bit after you see the child, and the wolf makes an attempt to charge at you, but it stumbles and slides in the dirt, bleeding out.

You stand in awe for moment, soaking in the landscape. You feel a nudge on your arm.
You look over and see a man with lightly tanned skin that compliment with his sky-blue eyes. There are dark shadows surrounding his eyes, almost like war-paint that streams down his cheeks in a sort of intimidating way.
It isn't war paint, however. They are scars.
"The awe seems to go away after a bit," The teen says matter-of-factly. "There is no escape from this arena. More players keep on joining the game, and this seems to be the Spawn Point."
His words seem to be true, as you see more and more players joining in. the Arena is almost full.
"I have been here for two and a half hours. I have checked all the gates, and talked with a few others. The look of you creepy bee people is finally starting to become normal." he says, putting emphasis on 'bee'.

Initiative Results:
Shadow: 4
2x Sand Wolf: 8

The first wolf dashes and claws your leg, scraping it up a bit. You wince in pain. The other wolf follows suite, jumping at your other leg.
This time you know different however, and you swiftly dodge the attack.
You already have your sword out of its sheath, so you bring down a hard, forward slash into the wolf, splitting its head and cracking the beasts skull.
The other wolf growls at you. There is chaos everywhere is countless players fight.

You sink your katana into the dying beast, killing it rather quickly. You go to pull the katana out, put it seems to be stuck on the wolf's tufts of amber hair. The last wolf seems to grin at you in a sort of menacing way before it jumps at you.
You duck and the wolf goes sailing over your head, rolling on the ground behind you. It hops up in a jiffy, glowering at you with flaming eyes, full of enmity.

You turn towards the other wolf, which is caught a little off guard by your ferocity. You move to slash at the wolf, but it appears to a bit wiser than its brother, backing up a little to dodge your attack, before jumping at you when you are in the most vulnerable position. It bites hard at your free arm, digging deep into the flesh and drawing blood. You can't help but yell a little, both in surprise in the beast's cunning and the shocking realism of the pain. This is not right! You think rapidly; as a video gaming addict, you thought had seen it all, but not even one Virtual Reality Game has been able to introduce the concept of pain-- That was Outlawed by the Federal Government! You start to feel a little panicked.

Allright! You Select your Race, Class, Name and your vision goes black. Suddenly, a light fills the screen.... You wish you could wince but for some reason you feel like you can't.
Floating in the middle of a white screen is a peculiar creature.
A Fatu, You think as you examine it. You notice to your right an interface-type option menu appears. It seems you can customize the looks of this creature that's suppose to be you.

Physical Description: Please give a physical description of your character. this will be what others generally see you as. You are free to put as much as you want, but please fill in the following.

Fatu Features: *Fatu are the equivalent to elves in other Tolkien-based RPGs and stories. They are different in the fact that they are horned, usually on the head. These horns are usually neutral or brown colors that often compliment their earthy toned hair. Their skin ranges from pale to dark, often depending on user preference. Be creative!*

COMBAT ROUND 2 (Maybe..? I forgot to post it last time. Not that it particularly matters)- Rhyos { 12/12} vs 1x Sand Wolf {Unknown HP}
Initiative Results:
1x Sand Wolf: 6
Rhyos: 4

The wolf dashes at you and you pull on your katana, hard, but it doesn't want to budge too much from its place. In a panic, you manage to kick the wolf as it lunges at you, sending it back to the ground.
You feel the essence of the defiant blade in your mind, and beckon it to release its spirit. Each sword has its own unique denizen.
This sword releases its animal, and the form of a medium brown horse, a rather young but still capable one. It neighs and glows in a sort of otherworldly sense, and goes up on the back hooves, stamping at the terrified wolf. The wolf gets trampled, its organs being crushed by the rage of the beast. It lay there, dead.
You look around. Everywhere, players are finishing their skirmishes with the Sand Wolves. There is general silence as the battles conclude.

And then the Statue in the center of the Coliseum starts to move.

COMBAT ROUND 5~ Spikeabc {13/15 HP} Stranger {Unknown HP} 2x Sand Wolf {Unknown HP}
Initiative Results:
Spikeabc- 20 {Critical Success!}
2x Sand Wolf- 17
Stranger- 16

You move and attack the two remaining wolves, hacking your axe into the one closest. You grunt in effort and you are rewarded by the death of the beast. Your effort doesn't carry you the whole way, however, as the last remaining wolf pounces, tackling you and biting into your belly with a sick, animalistic joy. You tremble, scrambling for the axe that slipped out of your hand.
Suddenly the wolf stops biting. A spear was lodged into the wolf's skull. The Stranger grins and kicks it off.
"You okay?" He asks to you, helping you up. Both of you are pretty beat up.
Battles across the Arena are seeming to conclude, and an eerie silence seems to emerge, with the groans of the hurt dotting here and there.
Pain was something you were never suppose to feel in a Virtual Reality Game. It was outlawed by many federal governments. Something's not right. You think.
Another grumbling tremors up, and that's when the Statue in the middle of the Arena starts to move, color flooding it as it starts to stand upright, clutching its set of keys. You see a wicked smile under the hood of the figure, since you standing under it.

COMBAT ROUND 4~ Jack {12/12} Child {Unknown HP} vs. 3x Sand Wolf {Unknown HP}
Initiative Results:
Jack: 19
3x Sand Wolf: 4
Child: 18

You sink one of your swords into the dying wolf then sprint towards the child, who sees you through light chestnut eyes. He seems to be about 10... maybe 11.
You cleave one of the wolves, killing it outright. The kid scrambles out of the grip of the other two wolves and quickly dashes out of the fray, but falls because of the pain.
The other two wolves split, one going for you and the other going to finish of the child. The one going for you is already hurt a bit, so you hold up your swords and block the beast and force it back. You see the wolf going for the kid start you go past you and you manage to reach out your arm and stab it, although lightly.
It stops and looks at you. More meat.

ATTENTION GOOD PLAYERS! Hello! I will releasing the first patch and a poll on upcoming page 10! This 'atch' is merely a poll, asking you, the good players, what you would like to see in the game. Most of you are in combat right now, so you haven't really experienced the world yet. Things on this poll will be chosen by you, with a few I have inputted. Please make suggestions to my page, and if I think they are good I will list them in the poll on upcoming page 10. Thank you for playing!

I let out a bellowing roar at the wolf that was going for the child. I furiously attempt to behead that same wolf.

When you say pole, can it be on any topic or do you have something in mind?
