A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Well, you got the syllables and lines right. That's definitely a plus in your favor. My first haiku went more along the lines of
"The leaves fell to the ground and went plop"
And I thought that was a haiku. Ok, that's exaggerated, but still.

Pretty good, although it's a bit difficult to tell it's about an apple tree. But other than that, very good. Nature-related, and that's always a big element of master haikus.

You might want to structure your haiku like this:

He sold her apples,
and built a home from her wood...
now sits on her stump.

Nice btw :P

Who is to say that there's not a genetically modified orange with a unique set of DNA which caused the acid inside the orange to react with the peel, causing a chemical reaction which in turn, created a brand new chemical in which Zega is allergic to? O.O

...you're right.

Ahem. *cough* Guys, the theme is specifically a fruit tree, or fruit pertaining to the action of coming from the tree, afore mentioned in teh above haiku, as seen in article 4, subsection J, clause H, Sub-Clause Lima-JJ (plural). Any other haikus, or articles denying the topic of the afore mentioned, and to be found guilty on all charges as previewed by His Judge, Maverick, Six Men, and A lunatic and cat in a shack on a remote island, the guilty party, assumingly reciving the worst and only sentence, will be sentenced to be:

Hung, Drawn, and Quartered, with the remains to be drawn though out the Art and Theatrical Districtk of ArmorLand. Your High Judge Maverick has not spoked, in as much the 6 men, a lunatic and a cat in a shack, who are on a remote island.

So Ends Educational Degree 1.1

Signed: High Judge Maverick, 6 men, etc, etc.
